United States Olympian Suni Lee isn’t happy with the warmup setup at the Tokyo Games.

Lee, who won the all-around gold medal, believes the Summer Olympics warmup rule is “so dumb.” The rules prevent gymnasts from warming up on the equipment they will use in the finals (they are allowed to warm up during qualifying rounds, team finals and the individual all-around final).

“I think that rule is so dumb,” said Lee, who took bronze in the uneven bar final. “It’s so dangerous.”

Former United States Olympic gymnast McKayla Maroney appears to agree.

Maroney, who competed in the 2012 Summer Olympics, won a gold medal in the team event and a silver medal in the vault.

“If you want to hear the behind the scenes of what ACTUALLY goes down during the Olympic Gymnastics event finals (specifically vault finals) please go watch my Instagram story (link in bio) I think a lot of people don’t understand how terrible it’s set up for the athletes,” she tweeted.

Maroney further explained how rough the set up is, with athletes forced to stay warm in between competition, despite there not being much of an area for that.
