McGahan, Thorborjnsen lead Three Rivers to win at Sturgis

STURGIS — The Adams Cup is staying with Three Rivers.

The honor of hosting the cup is an annual tradition played for between Sturgis and Three Rivers on the soccer pitch. On Monday, the Lady Wildcats picked up a 5-0 victory at Sturgis.

The win for the Wildcats was the third on the year. It's also the second victory in a row for Three Rivers, which also picked up a 3-1 win over Constantine last week. The Cats also own a victory over Dowagiac this season, a 4-0 decision.

To date, Three Rivers is 3-4-2 on the year. With the loss on Monday, Sturgis fell to 0-14-1 on the season. The Trojans still play Edwardsburg, Constantine and Quincy during the remainder of the season.

Three Rivers had five goals on Monday, but they were scored by just two players. Three Rivers led 3-0 at halftime.

WINNERS: Burr Oak softball wins as host of invitational, Three Rivers goes 3-0 in U.P.

Natalie McGahan finished the game with a hat trick, scoring two goals in the first half and one more in the second. Tori Thorborjnsen also found the back of the net twice in the game, scoring one tally in each half.

Three Rivers got seven keeper saves in net from Amaria Currier. The Wildcats will host Otsego on Wednesday.
