It doesn't get much sweeter than Grandma. And that's why McDonald's just announced a new McFlurry flavor that celebrates all the nanas, grannies, meemaws, and abuelas that make our lives special.

If you're curious about the inspiration behind the Grandma McFlurry, just take a peek inside Grandma's purse. With her permission, of course! Among the bifocals, tissues, and tubes of lipstick, you'll likely find a handful of neatly wrapped hard candies.

Those hard candies, along with a grandma-approved syrup, are mixed in with McDonald's creamy vanilla soft serve to create the uniquely sweet Grandma McFlurry. And with these nostalgic flavors, McDonald's hopes customers can take a delicious trip down memory lane.

“Grandmas have always held a special place in our hearts, and today they’re having a major moment influencing culture – inspiring trends in fashion, decor and now, even food with our newest McFlurry,” said Tariq Hassan, Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer at McDonald’s, in a statement. “The Grandma McFlurry tastes like a trip down memory lane, and we’re excited to give our fans that experience while honoring the grandma-figure in all our lives.”

You and grandma will be able to get your hands on Mickey D's latest McFlurry on May 21, but only for a limited time.

And as an added bonus, McDonald's has partnered with a pair of musicians to create covers of two sweet classics. Singer-songwriter Remi Wolf will cover Marvin Gaye's “How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved by You)” while Puerto Rican star Jay Wheeler will take on the iconic “Piel Canela.” Both songs will be available on streaming services the day of the Grandma McFlurry release.
