Mayor of Kingstown confirms major cast return for season 3
Mayor of Kingstown has confirmed that Rob Kirkland will return as Police Captain Walter in season three of the crime thriller.
The show stars Marvel's Jeremy Renner as Mike McLusky, the unwilling 'Mayor' of a town besieged by injustice, violence and crime, and follows him as he and his family attempt to restore some semblance of order between the police, prison guards, criminals and gang members.
Kirkland appeared in the first season of the programme in 2021 and was absent from the second in 2023 – but as confirmed by Deadline, he will reprise his role in season three.

While the character appeared in season five of Yellowstone, he is the second of two cast returns confirmed for the third season of Mayor of Kingstown. The first was Natasha Marc reprising the role of Cherry.
On the flipside, the series has lost a key player for season three, in the form of McLusky matriarch Mariam (Dianne Wiest).
As reported by Deadline, Mariam's exit from the show is "said to be story-driven".

The official plot synopsis for season three reads as follows: "A series of explosions rock Kingstown and its citizens, as a new face of the Russian mob sets up shop in the city, and a drug war rages inside and outside prison walls.
"The pressure is on Mike McLusky (Renner) to end the war but things get complicated when a familiar face from his incarcerated past threatens to undermine the Mayor’s attempts to keep the peace."
The series was co-created by Oscar nominee Taylor Sheridan and Hugh Dillon, and also stars Tobi Bamtefa, Taylor Handley, Emma Laird, Derek Webster, Hamish Allan-Headley, Nishi Munshi and Michael Beach.
Mayor of Kingstown season 3 premieres June 2 on Paramount+.
