May I Suggest Taking a Post-Bachelorette Vacation at The Beach Tulum Hotel?

I Think I Found Peace at The Beach Tulum Hotel? The Beach Tulum Hotel

One thing about me? I'm always gonna go on the bachelorette trip. I mean, my friends are the best, and who wouldn't want to go on a girls' getaway in the name of love?! That's how I ended up in Tulum, Mexico, a few weeks ago, to celebrate my friend Morgan, who's getting married in June. We had a fab time, packing eight ladies and plenty of decorations into one adorable Airbnb. But after four days of beach clubs, sun exposure (don't worry, I brought enough sunscreen for everyone), and margaritas on repeat, we were happily exhausted by the end.

That's why Morgan and I were pumped that we were staying three extra nights in the sunny city to check out The Beach Tulum, an adults-only, five-star hotel that—surprise, surprise—is quite literally on the sand of Tulum's southern beachfront, surrounded by lush jungle. The boutique property is known for being eco-conscious, wellness-focused, and super secluded, and to say we were ready to relax would be an understatement.

TLDR: It ended up being the most rejuvenating post-bachelorette vacation, and I would recommend the 28-room resort to anyone looking for a slice of peace and quiet in a city where partying is certainly the norm. (Please don't think I'm boring, a girl can only take so many tequila shots in 72 hours!!!) If you want my full review of the property, you'll find it below.

THE FIRST IMPRESSIONS!

After walking into the open-air lobby, having our (many) bags whisked away to our room, and being greeted with an icy-cold welcome drink (non-alcoholic, thank GOD), I texted my fiancé: "Wow, my cortisol levels have gone down already." The Beach Tulum is a breath of fresh air in hotel form. The staff members were so kind I wanted to hug them, and I immediately noticed the sound of waves crashing down on the shore the second we walked up the front steps. The beachy-cool decor in the lobby and extending out to the main pool area also helped set the mood—I'd described it as earthy in the most modern and chic way. Think: plush white couches, plenty of green plants in unique pottery, and more rattan furnishings than a Serena and Lily store.

THE ROOMS!

The same aesthetic was found in our room, which was a quick walk from the lobby. We were put up in one of the hotels' "Rooftop Rooms," so we had a first floor with a bedroom, closet, bathroom, and terrace (with a hammock!), plus another level just a short staircase away with a private hot tub and seating area for sunbathing. Both outdoor spaces overlooked the ocean, and we immediately noticed our private beach bed on the sand below, marked with our room number. (A perk for every guest!) If you've ever battled other resort guests for a prime beach seat before, you know how clutch this is.

THE AMENITIES!

If there's one thing I haven't shut up about since returning home, it's the amenities at The Beach Tulum—and two stand out the most. The first is the free one-hour yoga class they host for guests every morning, in the breezy palapa up in the trees (literally!) above the resort. Morgan and I admittedly only woke up for it once during our three days (did I mention we were tired?), but left feeling like absolute heroes. Flexible ones, to boot. We did a power yoga class, but don't worry, they change the practice style daily if you're more of a vinyasa girlie.

Next up, the small but mighty Naj Naay Spa. We both did the Mayan Reawakening treatment, which began with an hour-long "healing circuit" (which is also complimentary for all guests!) through a sauna, steam room, warm pool, and cold plunge. Did I complain that I was too hot and/or too cold throughout the entire thing? Yes. But I felt great at the end.

Our massage treatment, which was 80 minutes, was unlike anything I had ever done before. It started with a sacred smoke cleansing, then we were rubbed down and brushed with rose petals, healing herbs, and even mezcal (yes, the alcohol). At the end, the massage therapist ran chicken eggs over our bodies and cracked them into glasses of water—a traditional Mayan healing technique. When we came out, the therapist "read" our energy by looking at the egg in the glass, kind of like you would read tea leaves. If you were wondering, I'm doing just fine, thank you very much!

THE FOOD AND BEV!

Despite being a small and intimate hotel, there are two restaurants on the property—both of which you can order for room service or to the pool/beach—so you can't go hungry unless you try. If you're looking for something fresh and flavorful, you'll want Fresco's, their all-organic restaurant serving up smoothies for breakfast, salads for lunch, and ceviches for dinner, amongst plenty of other healthy fare. We grabbed acai bowls and watermelon juice here after our yoga class, and I don't know if I've ever felt like a better version of myself.

For something a little more filling, Ziggy's will do the trick. The beachside bar and grill has a traditional Mexican menu, with tacos, polcanes, and seafood that tastes like it came straight from the sea...because it did. I highly recommend the tuna nachos with wonton chips, guacamole with panela cheese, and the juicy flank steak. If you still have room after your meal, be sure to grab a slice of tres leches cake and have a nightcap at the bar—it has swings for seats! There's often live music, and we were lucky enough to be serenaded by a saxophone player so talented one night, we thought about inviting him to the wedding.

THE BOTTOM LINE!

If you're tired of staying at big chain hotels on vacation but still want that five-star experience, The Beach Tulum Hotel is 100 percent worth putting on your list. It's so cozy and homey with a location that truly just can't be beat. The best part, though, is how conducive it is to relaxation. You can definitely have your fair share of fun in Tulum, but if you'd rather get back to nature and soak up some salty air and Vitamin D, this is where you'll want to be. Plus, take it from me: tacking a recovery trip onto the end of a bachelorette trip is a power move. 10/10 will be doing it again.
