May 25 is National Wine Day. Here's where you can celebrate in North Jersey

Memorial Day weekend and National Wine Day together? We can't imagine anything better.

Whether you're a wine connoisseur, a casual drinker or a novice looking to learn more about the world of wine, May 25 is the perfect day to sit back and relax with a glass of your favorite pour or try a brand new selection.

In North Jersey alone, there's an abundance of wine bars and wineries available for you to explore to celebrate National Wine Day. So, kick the summer off right with a trip to one of these wine destinations in our area.

Spuntino Wine Bar & Italian Tapas, Clifton

With a nationally-rated wine list that incudes more than 600 different wines, Spuntino Wine Bar & Italian Tapas in Clifton is a must-visit for wine drinkers of all levels. With the feel of a rustic wine cellar, the business has both a bar for casual outings, as well as a more formal dining area. Plus, it is known for extensive menu of Italian tapas to pair with your wine, including eight different types of bruschetta, arancini, meatballs, pastas and more.

Spuntino Wine Bar & Italian Tapas also holds "Blind Tasting At The Bar" every Monday, where patrons can participate in independent tastings, as well as tastings guided by a sommelier. And, there is also "Explore The Bin Mondays," where featured bottles are 50% from 4 p.m. until close.

Uncorked Lounge, Totowa

In addition to being an upscale retail wine shop, Uncorked Lounge in Totowa offers a complete service bar with a Manhattan-style experience. With its cozy vibe, the bar has a rotating menu of wines available from all regions, as well as organic wine. The menu also incudes a selection of champagne, splits, cocktails and specialty drinks.

Uncorked Lounge does not serve food, but their extensive drink menu can be enjoyed in their lounge area or on their outdoor patio. And, wine tasting events are held periodically, introducing new wines to patrons and educating them on selections from different regions.

Bar Boutique, Ramsey

Prior to the grand opening of Bar Boutique in 2021, owner Andrew Matarese earned his advanced wine and spirits certification while working as a wine importer and distributor, and traveled to renowned vineyards in South Africa, France, Italy, South America and Napa Valley. Now, he brings that knowledge to the relaxed but chic interior of Bar Boutique in Ramsey. With seats at the bar, sit-down spots indoors and an outdoor dining area, patrons are met with a unique menu of wines and uniquely crafted cocktails. The bar also offers savory and sweet eats, as well as a wine retail store for patrons to purchase to-go bottles.

Aumm Aumm, North Bergen

Enjoy a delicious pairing of classic Neapolitan-style cuisine with glass of wine at Aumm Aumm in North Bergen. The restaurant has an extensive wine menu that includes more than 150 different selections, all from small boutique, family-owned and operated wineries. One of the owners, Monica Faraoni, is a producer of Le Solive Wines, and wanted to create a wine bar where patrons could explore both her wines and other fine wines from around the world.

Make Wine With Us, Wallington

If you want a unique experience this National Wine Day, consider making your own at Make Wine With Us in Wallington. With grapes from regions in California, Italy and Chile, you'll find the perfect type of grape to fit your palate. To create your own wine, ranging from full-bodied reds to crisp whites, you'll get to experience crushing your own grapes in their state-of-the-art hydraulic press. Then, once your grapes undergo their transformation and turn into wine, you can fill and cork your bottles, as well as add your own personalized label.

Make Wine With Us also hosts periodic barrel tastings so patrons can try new varieties before making their own.

Tomasello Wine Tasting Room at Abma's Farm, Wyckoff

Tomasello Winery dates back to the early 1900s, when the vineyard was purchased by Frank Tomasello. The family-run vineyard and winery was founded in 1933, and is located in Hammonton. Today, the grandsons of Tomasello have created one of the state's biggest wineries, and have brought their award winning wines to tasting rooms across New Jersey. One of those tasting rooms is at Abma's Farm in Wyckoff, where patrons can enjoy more than 50 homegrown New Jersey wines. Bottles are available for purchase.

Ventimiglia Vineyard, Wantage

Ventimiglia Vineyard in Wantage is located on the 50 acres of Rocky Ridge Farm and has been family-run for generations. The vineyard is know for producing a variety of hand-crafted wine made in small batches, ranging from whites wines like Chardonnay and Wantage White to reds wines like Rocky Ridge Red and Chambourcin.

Ventimiglia Vineyard holds open tastings on Saturdays and Sundays, and on weekdays by appointment only. There are also picnic tables available for visitors while tasting, as well as hiking trails nearby.

Brook Hollow Winery, Columbia

Started in 2006, Brook Hollow Winery is run by owner and winemaker Paul Ritter, as well as his wife, Debbie, and their three daughters. The winery now sits on a 10-acre farm field and consists of 7,000 vines of grapes. With a covered porch area and lawn seating, Brook Hollow Winery offers wine tastings daily, and their menu includes both dry and sweet wines, frozen wine slushies and Chocolate Merlot milkshakes.

Patrons can also purchase bottles of wine to-go, or participate in the winery's other guided or premium wine tastings.

Four Sisters Winery, Belvidere

Situated on a 250-acre farm, Four Sisters Winery in Belvidere is ran by Matty Matarazzo, who has been growing grapes and producing award-winning wines since 1981. The winery offers a wide selection of white, red, rosé and fruit wines, as well as a fortified port-style wine and champagne. With a deck, picnic tables or under a tent overlooking the vineyards, Four Sisters Winery has educational tours and comprehensive wine tastings so patrons can learn more about their wine-making process. The winery also hosts a variety of events throughout the year, including the Wine and Music Festival in September and Fall Harvest weekends throughout October.
