Matthew Vaughn is planning a Kick-Ass reboot
Director Matthew Vaughn has revealed that he's planning a reboot to the superhero franchise Kick-Ass.
The film and its sequel, Kick-Ass 2, which released in 2010 and 2013 respectively, followed Aaron Taylor-Johnson as wannabe superhero Dave Lizewski, and are based on a comic book of the same name Mark Millar and John Romita Jr.
Speaking during a panel at New York Comic Con on Saturday (October 14), Vaughn revealed that a reboot is in the works (via Hollywood Reporter).
"Kick-Ass sort of changed people’s perception of what a superhero film is at that time. So we’ll be doing it again," he revealed.

Continuing, he clarified that the aforementioned reboot would involve entirely new characters than the first two films.
"So it’s none of the characters from the other Kick-Ass,” he said. “We’d like to bring them back after the reboot. This reboot is just going off on a tangent that I can’t really talk about now. But it’s fun.”
The original film also starred Chloë Grace Moretz as Kick-Ass's sidekick Hit-Girl, Christopher Mintz-Plasse as Chris D'Amico and Nicolas Cage as Big Daddy.

The director, who helmed the first two films in the Kingsman franchise starring Taron Egerton and Colin Firth, and its prequel The King's Man with Harris Dickinson, as well as two X-Men flicks, also revealed that he "literally bet the house" on the first Kick-Ass film, taking out a mortgage to finance it.
He has also directed the upcoming meta-spy-thriller Argylle, with Henry Cavill, Bryce Dallas Howard and Dua Lipa in central roles.
Howard plays Elly, an author who is thrust into a world of espionage that scarily mimics the plots of her best-selling spy novels.
Argylle will be released in cinemas on February 2, 2024, before being released worldwide on Apple TV+.
