Matthew McConaughey Performs The Outfield’s ‘Your Love’ with Zach Bryan in Fun Video: Watch

The actor starred in the music video for the country star's song 'Nine Ball' and shared a fun video of the behind-the-scenes moment

The actor, 54, shared a fun video on Instagram on April 7 as he broke out into an a cappella rendition of The Outfield’s “Your Love.” In the short clip, McConaughey started to sing, “You know I like my girls a little bit older” as he walked over to country star Zach Bryan, who joined him to sing the chorus. “I could use your love tonight,” the duo sang together.

“That’s it. That’s all I know,” actor Tye Sheridan chimed in from beside Bryan, 28, before joining in to sing, “Baby, I could use your love tonight.”

The trio then mimicked the sound of the song’s drum break, and Bryan looked particularly happy as the sweet moment was captured. “Live on the beach in Pensacola, FL. 1987,” McConaughey wrote in the caption of the video, referring to two years after The Outfield’s song was released.

In the clip, the three were inside a low-key bar — and both Bryan and Sheridan were sipping from cans of Miller Lite — as they filmed a music video for a song off Bryan’s latest release, the Boys of Faith EP, which debuted in September.

Both McConaughey and Sheridan, 27, starred in a video for “Nine Ball” which premiered in February and saw the Oscar winner star as a gambling addict who primes his young son to become a talented pool player in games he bets on. Sheridan plays an older version of McConaughey’s son, who, as shown through flashback scenes, has grown up watching his dad place bets on pool at the bar.

The video, directed by Matthew Dillon Cohen, brings to life an interpretation of the song’s tragic lyrics, which see the narrator reflecting on how his father was a “betting man” whose impulsive habits led him to spend more time at pool halls than raising his son.

At the time of the music video’s release, Bryan shared some behind-the-scenes photos from the video shoot with McConaughey on Instagram, writing, “Thank you for being so kind and open-hearted these past few days @officiallymcconaughey; for all the advice and believing in something I cared enough to write about. You’ll always have a friend in me and for once it was an honor to meet a hero.”

The musician also thanked the Austin, Texas, bar where they filmed, called Sagebrush, for opening its doors to him and his team to make the video.

McConaughey was a fitting choice to star in Bryan’s video, given his far-reaching roots as a Texas native, and the fact that he and his wife, Camila Alves McConaughey, uprooted their family and moved back to Texas in 2014.

The couple chose to leave their “happy life” in Malibu, Calif., behind for a slower, more ritualistic lifestyle in the actor's home state, and the decision came about quite naturally, as they told Southern Living.

They were in Austin visiting the actor’s mother when Camila, 41, said she couldn’t help but notice the “gravity” that Texas held for her husband throughout their trip, and tossed out the idea of moving there with their sons, Levi, 15, and Livingston, 11, and daughter, Vida, 14.

“Time slowed down,” Matthew recalled. “The clock was right, the body clock. And part of that is ritual; part of that is just the distance between places and the way people move. But it’s also the hospitality, the courtesy, the common sense, the lack of drama.”

He added of how the move helped their family: “Ritual came back, whether that was Sunday church, sports, dinner together as a family every night, or staying up after that telling stories in the kitchen, sitting at the island pouring drinks and nibbling while retelling them all in different ways than we told them before.”
