Matt Nagy Has New Update On Starting Quarterback Plan
Less than 24 hours after the Chicago Bears’ ugly loss to the Cleveland Browns, Matt Nagy appears to have reopened his team’s quarterback competition.
Nagy told reporters on Monday morning that all three Bears quarterbacks – Andy Dalton, Justin Fields and Nick Foles – are “under consideration” to start in Week 4.
Dalton began the season as the Bears’ starting quarterback. He’s currently dealing with a knee injury, though, and didn’t play on Sunday as a result. Fields got the start in his place, but it was an ugly outing from the rookie. The former Ohio State star completed just six of his 20 pass attempts for 68 yards without a score. He added just 12 yards rushing on three carries.
Foles, meanwhile, hasn’t played once so far this season. But if Dalton is unable to give it a go and Nagy wants to give Fields more time studying from the sideline, Foles might end up starting for the Bears this Sunday versus the Detroit Lions.
“They’re all three under consideration right now,” Nagy said, via Pro Football Talk. “We know where Nick’s at health-wise, but we just want to keep an eye on Justin and Andy.”

It might be wise for Matt Nagy to keep Justin Fields on the bench. The Bears can’t afford to ruin his confidence.
Foles is more than capable of running the offense. Some actually believe he gives Chicago the best chance at winning games.
We’ll find out who the Bears’ starting quarterback will be this Sunday when Chicago plays Detroit.
