Mastiff Literally Jumps for Joy When His Human Sister Comes Home From College

I remember being tired of hearing "college will be the best years of your life," after graduating high school, but looking back, I would say that it's true. Living on a college campus is a unique experience that teaches young adults many valuable life lessons, but it's also tons of fun. Like many students who moved away from home to go to college, I didn't regret it one bit--but I missed my dog every day.

Even though my family's dog stayed at home while I went to school, our weekend and vacation visits were the best! I know exactly how it feels to come home to a happy dog who hasn't seen me in weeks, so I couldn't hold back the tears when I watched Bowser the Mastiff literally jump for joy at the sight of his human sister home for spring break. Clearly, these two adore each other!

Welcome home, Morgan! The spring break greetings truly don't get better than that. I know plenty of dog owners who would choose to spend the week with their furry friend than with hundreds of people partying on a beach, though with Bowser, his sister gets the best of both worlds. This giant dog is the party!

Morgan and her English Mastiff have been BFFs since the dog came home in 2020, though Bowser's true soft spot is for his dad. Maybe it's because he hand-feeds the sweet dog, or maybe it's all the Pup Cups talking, but this really is one family-oriented dog. Even his grandma has learned to pay the cheese tax when Bowser is around!

Even so, nothing compares to reuniting with his sister. She matches the happy dog's energy perfectly, and she knows exactly how to position herself so his big wagging tail doesn't knock her over. If that's not an experienced dog sister, I don't know what is!

Are Giant Dogs Good Family Dogs?

Watching Morgan interact with big boy Bowser may have you wondering whether Mastiffs--or large dog breeds in general--are good choices for families who want a dog. They certainly can be! Although their large size could knock over or frighten small children, big dogs can be excellent family guardians and companions.

Instead of looking at a dog's size, consider their breed characteristics when deciding whether they'd be a good family dog. Some massive dogs, like Newfoundlands, are better known as 'gentle giants' thanks to their sweet demeanor, but keep in mind that any large dog will need plenty of space, exercise, food, and love to be healthy and happy. Just look at happy boy Bowser--he's the perfect proof!
