Masters payout history

For decades, the Masters staggered behind other majors in terms of payout.

The tournament did not begin handing out over a million dollars until 2001 and didn't eclipse the two million mark until 2019.

The Masters has now mostly caught up. Its purse is now tied for first among majors with the U.S. Open. However, the USGA could increase its number for June's tournament at Pinehurst.

All majors, though, trail the Players Championship. The tournament held a $25 million purse in 2024, and Scheffler took home $4.5 million as the winner.
