Masters live updates: Weather delays start of tee times until at least 9 a.m.

It will eventually be time to chase a green jacket, but not when everyone expected.

The start of the 88th Masters Tournament has been delayed by at least an hour Thursday morning at Augusta National Golf Club due to poor weather conditions. With 89 player in the field, and 33 of them past major champions, it'll be a fight to the finish on late Sunday afternoon.

The winner gets a lifetime exemption to the Masters as well as a host of other prizes and exemptions to other tournaments around the world. But that green jacket is the biggest prize of them all.

Masters schedule today

At 5 a.m., Augusta National announced that golf would not begin before 9 a.m. and that patron gates remained closed until further notice.

The honorary starters – former Masters champions Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player and Tom Watson – were scheduled to hit the opening tee shots from No. 1 at 7:40 a.m. The first tee time was scheduled for 8 a.m., with the final pairing going off No. 1 at 2 p.m.

When does Tiger Woods tee off today?

Tiger Woods was scheduled to tee off at 1:24 p.m. alongside Jason Day and Max Homa.

Fans can stream for free at Masters.com for certain holes on the course, as well as top shots from featured pairings all day.

Live TV coverage runs from 3-7 p.m. on ESPN, with a replay from 8-11 p.m.

Masters odds 2024

According to BetMGM on Wednesday afternoon, Scottie Scheffler – the world's top-ranked player and 2022 Masters champion is the best bet in the field at +500. Rory McIlroy is second-favorite at +1100, with defending champion Jon Rahm at +1200.

Masters payout 2024

The official purse for the 2024 Masters tournament will not be announced until Sunday morning ahead of the final round. In 2023, the total purse was $18 million.

Champion Jon Ram took home $3.24 million, while runners-up Phil Mickelson and Brooks Koepka got checks for $1,584,000 each. Keith Mitchell took home $43,200 for finishing 53rd, last among those that made the cut.

Professionals who missed the cut received $10,000 each; amateurs do not receive a monetary prize.
