Masters 2024 weather: Strong winds expected again during 2nd round Friday at Augusta National
As Masters patrons get ready for the second round of tournament play, golfers are bracing for another windy day at Augusta National.
After a morning weather delay Thursday, strong winds rolled into the city, making an already challenging course even more harrowing.
The National Weather Service in Columbia predicts winds up to 21 mph Friday, with gusts reaching 35 mph.
The weather service issued a lake wind advisory which will go in effect at 11 a.m. Friday and remain in effect until 8 p.m.

In the event of inclement weather, Augusta National will post a weather warning sign on scoreboards and message boards. When then sign appears, patrons are advised to avoid isolated trees and open areas.
Suspension of play will be signaled by an air horn. Patrons should take shelter immediately if they hear the sound.
Play was suspended twice during the second round of the 2023 Masters Tournament after three pine trees fell near the 17th hole due to strong wind gusts, according to previous reporting. There were no injuries.
