Masked Singer’s Sea Queen Revealed? Go On, ‘Try’ to Tell Us We’re Wrong

It’s time to spill some royal tea: The Sea Queen returns to The Masked Singer stage on Wednesday, and viewers are certain they’ve gotten to the bottom of her secret identity.

One of Season 10’s more mysterious characters, the Sea Queen has only appeared in a single episode thus far, when she was introduced as the Group B wild card on Oct. 25. That’s right, it’s been more than a month since we’ve been graced by her presence. Fortunately, that’ll change when she returns tonight (Fox, 8/7c) alongside Tiki and Husky. Previously eliminated Group B members included Hawk and Royal Hen, who turned out to be Tyler Posey and Billie Jean King, respectively.

Whereas some contestants give themselves away with a string of too-obvious clues, the Sea Queen’s identity was clear from the moment she opened her mouth. That unmistakably raspy voice could only belong to one person.

So, which iconic (not to mention Grammy Award-winning) voice is emanating from that costume? The consensus among fans is that the Sea Queen is none other than… R&B singer Macy Gray!

Best known for her single “I Try,” Gray has released 10 full-length studio albums in a career, earning five total Grammy nominations in the process. (She won Best Female Pop Vocal Performance in 2001 for “I Try.”)

Just listen back to the Sea Queen’s performance of The Searchers’ “Love Potion No. 9” from her debut episode and try to tell us that isn’t Gray’s soulful sound:
