“Masked Singer”: Girl Group Night Brings Back 2 Past Contestants and Introduces a Wildcard Performer

Seal entered the game when Beets, Miss Cleocatra and Gumball returned to the stage during the April 24 episode of the Fox singing competition

Group B brought the girl power to Girl Group Night on The Masked Singer on Wednesday, April 24.

Judges Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy, Rita Ora and Robin Thicke paid homage to the Spice Girls by opening the show with “Wannabe” before turning things over to Miss Cleocatra.

“I had my own gang of great women that shaped me, starting with my own mother,” Miss Cleocatra said in her clue package. “She was a maid so I didn’t have to be.”

The video also showed a domino with five pips, Whoopi Goldberg, Bette Midler and Michelle Obama. “I’m most proud of the little princesses who see me as their queen,” Miss Cleocatra added.

The regal cat tackled “Free Your Mind” by En Vogue.

Carnie Wilson, who competed with her Wilson Phillips bandmates as Lambs on season 8, sang an additional clue for Miss Cleocatra: “Stop! In the Name of Love” by The Supremes.

“The Supremes aren’t just on my playlist, they’re a part of my career,” Miss Cleocatra explained.

The panel thought Miss Cleocatra might be Loretta Devine, Roberta Flack or Jenifer Lewis.

Beets vegetated to the stage next.

“We both bring our own spice,” one of the Beets said in their clue package that featured a boarding pass, a restaurant menu and a bread castle.

Beets explained that one “was a total ladies’ man” while the other “was the tough guy,” but they “didn’t try to outdo each other.” “Instead, like a good girl group, we teamed up,” one of the Beets added.

Additionally, Beets mentioned that they still tour together.

The veggies then belted “I’m So Excited” by The Pointer Sisters.

“I’m your biggest fan,” Ora, 33, declared.

Raven-Symoné, season 2’s Black Widow, returned to the show to provide an extra-musical clue for Beets, singing “Weak” by SWV.

“We made our audience weak in the knees on Broadway,” Beets revealed.

The judges suggested Beets might be country duo Brooks & Dunn, Broadway actors Tituss Burgess and Alan Cumming or Scrubs stars Zach Braff and Donald Faison.

Gumball followed up with a touching tale about looking on the bright side.

“There’s actually one girl who’s been singing lead in my life for years: my wife,” Gumball said in his clue package. “I still remember the night I met her, an angel from across the room. I knew right then and there I’d spend the rest of my life with her.”

Gumball shared that his wife was diagnosed with “a disease that will impact her later in life,” but they chose to “be present each and every moment, say ‘yes’ more and explore more of the wide open spaces out there.”

The package displayed a globe, bowling, a moon and angel wings and a halo.

Gumball covered one of his wife’s favorite songs, “Wide Open Spaces” by The Chicks. Then Wilson, 55, delivered Gumball’s additional musical clue, belting Pussycat Dolls’ “Don’t Cha.”

“Well, don’t you wish you could’ve starred with Channing Tatum like me?” Gumball asked.

Derek Hough, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Taran Killam arose as possibilities for Gumball.

A wildcard contestant rounded out the night when Seal took the stage. Seal described themselves as “cute, cuddly and friendly” in their clue package, which featured a driver's license, a chemistry set and a treasure chest.

“I was in one of the most famous groups in the world,” Seal teased.

Seal put the spin on Wilson Phillips’ hit “Hold On.”

“Definitely one of the most charming characters we’ve ever had,” Thicke, 47, declared.

Raven-Symoné, 38, returned to sing “Boss” by Fifth Harmony for Seal’s additional clue. “It’s easy to be confident when you have a boss like Steven Spielberg,” Seal said.

Sean Astin, Corey Feldman, Haley Joel Osment and Ora’s husband Taika Waititi came up as options for Seal.

Host Nick Cannon announced that, following the vote, Miss Cleocatra and Seal would be going to the Smackdown to fight to stay in the competition. Miss Cleocatra and Seal each offered up a rendition of “Waterfalls” by TLC, with Miss Cleocatra putting a jazzy spin on it and Seal going the more traditional route.

The judges ultimately decided to keep Seal around and send home Miss Cleocatra. When Miss Cleocatra unmasked, she turned out to be Jeong’s guess of Black-ish star Lewis, 67.
