Ms Marvel actress Iman Vellani has shared a promising update on her Marvel Cinematic Universe future.

The young superhero first appeared in her titular Disney+ TV series before making the leap to the big screen with The Marvels.

Although the film ended with a tease of Ms Marvel starting to assemble her Young Avengers by recruiting Kate Bishop/the second Hawkeye, it didn't do well at the box office, and we're sure some fans are worried that Marvel might just drop the idea and move on.

Speaking to Polygon, Vellani said that she has been told she is still very much involved in the franchise's future.

"I have been assured," she said. "So that feels good, but there was no more assurance than that. They give me breadcrumbs, and I try and make a meal out of it."

Meanwhile, if Ms Marvel gets a second season, the star has an idea of who she would like to be the villain.

Vellani recently responded to the underperformance of The Marvels, stating that worrying about the numbers is a job for a Disney CEO, not an actress.

"I don't want to focus on something that's not even in my control, because what's the point? That's for Bob Iger," she said.

"I'm happy with the finished product, and the people that I care about enjoyed the film. It's genuinely a good time watching this movie, and that's all we can ask for with these films.

"It has superheroes, it takes place in space, it's not that deep and it's about teamwork and sisterhood. It's a fun movie, and I'm just so happy that I can share it with people."

The Marvels and Ms Marvel are streaming on Disney+.
