Marvel duo's Netflix rom-com gets scrapped
Netflix has cancelled its star-studded romantic-comedy Paris Paramount.
Just last week, Marvel duo Scarlett Johansson and Owen Wilson were reportedly set to team up on the project for writer-director Nancy Meyers (The Holiday), with Michael Fassbender (The Killer) and Penélope Cruz (American Crime Story) also tipped for roles.
In an update, The Hollywood Reporter claims the streaming giant wanted to cut the budget by $20 million (£17 million), which Meyers wouldn't agree to.

Paris Paramount (working title) focused on a young writer-director falling in love with a producer while making several successful movies together. After going their separate ways, they are thrown together on a new project.
It was a semi-autobiographical piece for Meyers, who enjoyed a professional and romantic history with writer-producer Charles Shyer, collaborating on the likes of The Parent Trap and Father of the Bride.

It's not all doom and gloom for Wilson, though, who has Paint coming to cinemas this April.
He portrays Bob Ross lookalike Carl Nargle, "Vermont's #1 public television painter who is convinced he has it all: a signature perm, custom van, and fans hanging on his every stroke… until a younger, better artist steals everything (and everyone) Carl loves".
Johansson isn't doing too badly either this year, with auteur Wes Anderson's ensemble comedy-drama Asteroid City rumoured for a Cannes Film Festival premiere.
A synopsis reads: "In 1955, students and parents from across the country gather for scholarly competition, rest, recreation, comedy, drama, and romance at a Junior Stargazer convention held in a fictional American desert town."
