New Marvel Comics: Mary Jane Hits The Jackpot

We’re past the middle point of the first month of 2024 – wow that’s terrifying to say – and that means it’s time for more Marvel comics. It’s honestly wild that Marvel can keep coming up with new comics every single week, but it does, and there’s a whole bunch of them coming this week.

This week sees a new addition to the Gang War with the introduction of Mary Jane Watson – yes, that one – as the unpredictably super-powered Jackpot. Watson first took up the mantle in The Amazing Spider-Man #31, and now she’s finally breaking out into her own series, which is fun. Her whole deal is that she has a super-powered gauntlet that just randomly assigns the strength and type of her powers, which seems like it could lead to some wild shenanigans.

There’s another new line in the Fall of the House of X story, too, with Cable coming back in a new series. Cable has a long and storied history with the X-Men and with mutants in the Marvel universe as a whole, so it should be interesting to see how he plays into the greater Fall of the House of X storyline.
