Martinez man dies after being thrown from motorcycle, run over by another car

A Martinez man is dead after being thrown from his motorcycle and run over by a car Thursday on Columbia Road.

David Brady, 44, of Martinez, was pronounced dead, according to a news release from the Columbia County Sheriff's Office.

At about 5 p.m. Thursday, deputies responded to a wreck involving a motorcycle on Columbia Road near the Kroger in Merchants Village.

Brady was driving his motorcycle west on Columbia Road in the inside lane when a car making a left turn from the center turn lane into the Regions Bank parking lot didn’t see the motorcycle, causing the motorcycle to hit the passenger side of the car, according to the release.

After impact, Brady was thrown from his motorcycle and landed in the inside westbound lane, according to the release. His motorcycle slid into the center turn lane and about 10 seconds after the impact, a car traveling west on Columbia Road in the inside lane ran him over.

Charges are pending, according to the sheriff's office.
