The Martha Stewart-Approved Method to Getting the Juiciest Turkey Ever

As you prepare for the one day of the year that most people are better off wearing sweatpants for, if you’re looking to have the juiciest turkey of your life's existence, then you’ll want to take some notes from the one and only Queen of Domestic Arts, Martha Stewart. In a recent interview, Stewart revealed her newest trick for the juiciest turkey ever, and we just can’t wait to put it to the test this Thanksgiving Day.

Keep in mind that Stewart's trick comes into play after you've already stuffed your turkey and slathered it with butter, but before putting it in the oven. The popular television personality encourages readers to “wrap it in an envelope of parchment paper,” while giving warning that you will need to do this meticulously for the best results.

Using large sheets of parchment paper, Stewart’s method requires wrapping the turkey entirely and then stapling the parchment paper shut. Then, toss that big bird in the oven, and when the turkey is about half an hour away from being done roasting, unwrap it and then put it back in the oven for the remaining time.

The “parchment-wrapped roasted turkey,” as Stewart calls it, seals in the moisture and flavor while cooking the turkey to perfection. The result? Stewart likens it to be “almost like Peking duck skin,” noting the turkey's “crisp skin and juicy, flavorful interior.”

“I cannot tell you, it is so utterly delicious,” Stewart exclaims in the interview. She goes on to tell of how she loves to experiment with a good roast turkey and while traditionally promoting her cheesecloth method, the lifestyle guru has yet to really promote this newer method as much. “The cheesecloth method with soaked-in butter and white wine is very good,” she says, “but I like this better.”
