Marshawn Lynch Lands New Job: NFL World Reacts

With his NFL career now behind him, former running back Marshawn Lynch is still staying close to sports through some of his many business ventures. But this past weekend, he apparently found another new job.

On Monday, CNBC reported that Lynch is now a minority owner of the NHL’s Seattle Kraken. He joins Grammy-winning rapper and Seattle native Macklemore is obtaining minority stakes in the franchise.

Lynch expressed a lot of excitement for being a sports owner at 35 years of age. He’s even begun using the Zamboni on the team’s practice ice.

“I retired before I was 30 and now being an owner of a pro club at 35. I’m gonna continue to count my blessings,” Lynch said, via Front Office Sports.

It’s hardly the first professional sports team Lynch has gotten involved with at an ownership level. He is a part owner of a Fan Controlled Football League team and co-owner of the Indoor Football League’s Oakland Panthers.

Seattle sports fans are thrilled to have Lynch and Macklemore on the ownership side of things:

Marshawn Lynch was a first-round pick by the Buffalo Bills in 2007 and made the Pro Bowl with them in 2008. But it was when he joined the Seattle Seahawks in 2010 that he really emerged as one of the elite running backs.

Between 2011 and 2014, Lynch was the driving force behind the Seahawks’ offense. He made four straight Pro Bowls while rushing for 1,200-plus yards and 11-plus touchdowns per year.

Lynch helped the Seahawks make back-to-back Super Bowls in 2013 and 2014, winning a ring in Super Bowl XLVIII.

He may be retired now, but Lynch expects to be involved in sports for many years to come.
