Marion church taking its message on the road each Sunday in May
After two years of focus on Jesus through the Bible and how to grow to be more like Him, a Marion church itaking the message outside of the church walls.
Throughout May, The Shepherd’s Fellowship will have its Sunday morning gatherings in different Marion parks.
“Our church has always had a heart for our community and have been actively involved in multiple relationships and events over the last 20 years.” said Tom Hypes, pastor. “However, this is a new season of doing so in a different way. We hope and pray this will engage the community in a different way in the footsteps of the early church, which modeled doing so."
The Shepherd’s Fellowship is a relational church that has reached out to people hurt by church or Christians. It has come to be known as “a church for us misfits.”
Hypes said the park gatherings are an effort to meet people where they are − especially those who may have never walked into a church.
“We are not interested in doing the latest cool thing, but we are interested in meeting people who need some support, love and a to have a relationship with Jesus today,” he said.
The public is welcome to join the gatherings in a casual dress environment at the parks at 10:30 a.m. Sundays. Take a chair and coffee as it will be park-style worship.
The scheduled gatherings are:
May 5 – Lincoln Park
May 12 – McKinley Park
May 19 – Salyer Park
May 26 – Founder’s Park
“I want to thank the mayor’s office, Mike Bodine and the entire park management team for being so great to work with,” Hypes said.
