Marie Osmond Takes a Strong Stance on Using Ozempic for Weight Loss

While many celebrities opt to take Ozempic for weight loss—quietly or loudly and proudly—Marie Osmond is publicly expressing her doubts about the diabetes drug.

“I don’t think [it’s] long-term effective,” Osmond  told Us Weekly of medications like Ozempic and Mounjaro, in an article published on Friday, Jan. 5.

She explained: “I think you have to learn that food is not your enemy and you have to do it the right way. That’s my personal opinion. And it’s healthier that way. I totally believe in health and taking care of your heart and your organs and keeping this machine that we have that houses our soul healthy.”

Fifteen years ago, Nutrisystem helped Osmond lose 50 pounds—and helped her keep off the weight since. The 64-year-old now works as a spokesperson for Nutrisystem; she even helped design a program catered specifically to women over 50 called Complete 50.

For Osmond, dropping the weight was about feeling good and "not about being" skinny.

“Weight ages us and it causes so many other side effects,” she told Us Weekly. “I get on the floor, I play with my grandkids, I’m out being active, I’m living my best life."

Previously, Osmond opened up with Parade about her journey toward healthy eating.

"The entertainment world is bizarre. Everything is body image and psycho head trips," she said. "...You name the diet, and I tried it, from the cookie diet to drinking liquid protein. Nutrisystem taught me how to eat. I’m not afraid of food anymore. You fuel your car. We should fuel our bodies, too."
