Marie Osmond on Guest Starring on 'The Bold and the Beautiful' and Fulfilling Her Bucket List (Exclusive)
Marie Osmond says she is checking off major items on her bucket list, including an upcoming arc on The Bold and the Beautiful, which has been a dream come true.
"I am having the best time," Osmond, 64, told ET during a recent sit-down. "I can't even tell you how much fun."
The singer and actress said she has been on a kick to check off as many items from her bucket list as she entered her sixties and released a hit album, Unexpected, which hit shelves in 2021.
"It, like, debuted at number one and I said, 'Oh my gosh, I need to start doing, like, fun, crazy things. So I started this bucket list,'" the Donny & Marie star said.
Alongside feats like skydiving, going to Iceland and climbing Mount Sinai? Appear on a soap opera -- something Osmond said she has "been wanting to do forever."
“Years ago, I talked to [television producer] Brad Bell and he said, 'You know, we should do a soap with you or something like that,'" Osmond explained, adding that she was ecstatic when the call finally came in.
"Brad called and I said, 'Are you kidding? Yes,'" she continued.
The Hollywood icon is playing a wealthy countess who "thinks the world revolves around her" and has a "serious attitude," in a three-episode arc during a special crossover between The Bold and the Beautiful and The Young and the Restless, which begins on Oct. 25. Osmond’s first appearance will occur on Oct. 27.
As for what it’s been like to step into the countess’ world, Osmond said that the diva character is "fun to play" and described her role as almost indescribable.
"She only goes to exclusive showings and she only wears originals. And so of course, she knows rich. And I don't know how to describe that person that lives on a yacht and travels the world and really needs her ego put in check," the singer said.
A longtime fan who began watching The Young and the Restless as a teenager, Osmond said she was overjoyed to have the opportunity to join the soap opera world for a day and to get a front-row look at the "gracious" actors who welcomed her onto the show.
"I watched them and their work ethic is insane. It kind of reminds me, like, back in the day with variety. Because you only had, like, one shot ... to keep the time. You know, you can't get behind," she said of her The Bold and the Beautiful co-stars.
"The way they get their scripts, and the speeches, they have to know them within a day. It's just really impressive. They worked really hard," she continued.
Soap stars Tracey Bregman, Kate Linder, Josh Hoffman and Thorsten Kaye echoed Osmond’s sentiments, telling ET that they would have loved to see her stick around a little longer.
As for a potential return to the soap opera world, Osmond -- who called herself "not an actress" while talking with ET -- said that she would love to try her hand at script advising and that it’s part of her mantra to always stay open to new possibilities.
"Look, I'm probably not the best in the world, but at least I'm trying and it's fun and I love pushing myself to try new and different things. I think it's so important," she said.
"I would rather try and fail than never try and that's kind of been my attitude through my whole life,’ Osmond added.
She's also not giving up on that bucket list of hers. The singer told ET that she has more things planned for this year, but that her fans will have to watch her social media pages to see what comes next.
