Mariah Carey Fans Sound Off After Her Christmas Barbie Sells Out in Mere Hours

All Mariah Carey fans want for Christmas is her holiday Barbie–but it will take more than the help of Santa's elves to make it happen.

Hours after Mattel released its new Barbie inspired by the Queen of Christmas, the doll sold out at its official retailers. Unfortunately, it appears some of those lucky buyers didn't want the collectible for their own enjoyment but to resell at a marked-up rate, as multiple listings featuring the collectible–which retailed for $75 via the Mattel shop–can now be found on resale shops like eBay and Mercari for anywhere from $119 to upwards of $180.

Fans of the singer are pretty upset over the blatant display of Grinch-like behavior and the "poor timing" of two promotional posts uploaded to Barbie's Instagram page featuring the doll.

"Why even make a social post when she’s sold out everywhere lol," one shared before someone else chimed with harsh criticism, "Your business practices are terrible. Fire the person coordinating the timing and limits."

"The scalpers bought her off Amazon, Walmart and Target already and are reselling her at double and triple the price 😐," another disgruntled fan wrote.

"Dont post items that cannot be purchased," another suggested before accusing the company of "catering to scalpers" instead of loyal customers. "The people who buy these to resell in bulk should not be able to checkout ! Im sure people make up for that one bot."

According to multiple Instagram users, this isn't the first time fans have had such an issue getting their hands on a limited-edition Barbie doll, with one writing, "I have been nothing but disappointed in your company website this year. I wanted to purchase the Nightmare Before Christmas Dolls, Tina Turner and others that sold out in minutes. I have wanted a Mariah Carey doll since I was little and once again your company disappointed me."

Neither Mattel nor the pop superstar have addressed customers' concerns regarding resellers or the limited quantity of first-run stock as of writing.

If you still want to get your hands on the Carey lookalike Barbie collectible, your best bet would be to call local brick-and-mortar retailers like Target and Walmart to see if they have any of the dolls in-store.
