Maria Menounos just dropped a new selfie on Instagram, and it has everyone tearing up.
The actress, journalist and TV presenter showed everyone just how strong she was as she donned a swimsuit and showed off her cancer surgery scars.
Maria recently battled stage 2 pancreatic cancer, but she's as tough as ever.

Maria Menounos has been through a lot lately. She revealed in May that she survived stage 2 pancreatic cancer, just five years after she was treated for a brain tumor. So, when she posts a swimsuit photo on Instagram, it’s more than just a swimwear shot.

The 45-year-old journalist and actress dropped the photo of herself looking strong (both physically and mentally!) in a brown string swimsuit, pointing out the scars from her pancreatic cancer surgery in the process. “I look back on surgery earlier this year and am grateful for the strength god blessed me with to get through and of course all of the beautiful humans that he sent to help me too!” she wrote in the caption. “Now I see the scars that I sunscreen up carefully to protect and I smile. ❤️”

People cheered her on in the comments. “Glad you wear your battle scars proudly, as do I. 🙂 You look beautiful! 💗” one person wrote. “Those aren't scars Maria, those are Warrior wounds always remember that,” another said.

Maria previously opened up to People about her pancreatic cancer journey, noting that she was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 2022 after having severe leg cramps, but she started having intense abdominal pains not long after.

A whole-body MRI scan showed that she had a mass on her pancreas, and a biopsy confirmed that it was a stage 2 pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor. Maria, who had a benign (not cancerous) brain tumor removed in 2017 remembered thinking, “'How in the freaking world can I have a brain tumor and pancreatic cancer?”

Maria ended up having the tumor removed surgically and didn’t need chemotherapy. She said in an Access Hollywood interview that she used mental health tools, like “choose wonder over worry” to her life. “Once I started applying all these techniques, things started getting easier to handle and things started in the way I was wondering rather than worrying,” she said.

Maria, who is expecting a baby girl via surrogate this summer with her husband Keven Undergaro, later told People that she feels “so grateful and so lucky.”

“God granted me a miracle,” she said. “I'm going to appreciate having her in my life so much more than I would have before this journey."
