Margaritas and ice cream to your door, these Bellingham restaurants deliver without apps

Ordering food from your favorite restaurant and having it delivered to your door has never been easier with so many websites and apps. But some Bellingham restaurants offer direct delivery to avoid paying commissions to the apps.

One popular option, DoorDash, charges restaurants a commission fee between 15%-30% and a 6% pickup commission, depending on the plan. If a restaurant uses multiple delivery services, the fees and contracts add up.

Whatcom County also has its own local third-party delivery service, Viking Food, that will deliver local food to your door for $4.99 for the first 4 miles from the restaurant, and an additional $1.25 for each additional mile.

Delivery fees apply to those ordering food, but they vary depending on app, order and location of delivery.

When you order directly from a restaurant instead of using a third-party app like GrubHub or UberEats, you keep a little money in the pockets of your local restaurants. And your own.
