Margaret Qualley to Play Amanda Knox in Hulu Drama From This Is Us EP

Amanda Knox’s highly publicized wrongful murder conviction is about to get the limited-series treatment at Hulu, TVLine has learned.

Margaret Qualley (Maid) will star as Knox in the as-yet-untitled, based-on-a-true-story drama. The project will chronicle Knox’s incorrect conviction for the murder of her roommate, Meredith Kircher, when they were foreign students living in Italy, as well as Knox’s “16-year odyssey to set herself free,” per the official logline.

The series was created by K.J. Steinberg (This Is Us, Mistresses), who will executive-produce alongside Qualley, Warren Littlefield (The Handmaid’s Tale), Monica Lewinsky, Chris Robinson, Knox and others.

Knox spent nearly four years in an Italian prison before being acquitted in 2015. Her story soon made its way to the small screen: The Lifetime movie Amanda Knox: Murder on Trial in Italy came out in 2011 and starred Nashville‘s Hayden Panettiere as Knox. In 2016, Netflix released Amanda Knox, a documentary about her story.

In addition to Maid, Qualley’s TV credits include Fosse/Verdon and The Leftovers, while her big-screen work includes Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood and Poor Things.
