Marcus Allen is a fan of Chiefs rookie RB. What Isiah Pacheco thinks about that

One of the NFL’s all-time greatest short-yardage running backs says he’s impressed by Kansas City Chiefs rookie Isiah Pacheco.

Marcus Allen, who played for the Chiefs from 1993-97 and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2003, told Forbes Sports’ Jeff Fedotin that he’s enjoyed watching Pacheco play running back.

“I always look at guys to see how they attack the line of scrimmage,” Allen told Forbes. “He’s fearless.”

Pacheco smiled in the Chiefs locker room Wednesday when told about Allen’s “fearless” compliment.

“That’s a great explanation of how I carry myself,” Pacheco told The Star. “I fear God, and for me, just continue to be the young man I am and believing in God and keep working and keep continuously grabbing pieces of things that I could get better at in life.”

Pacheco’s physicality especially showed in this past week’s 34-28 road victory over Denver. The seventh-round pick carried the ball 13 times for 70 yards while posting a season-high five missed tackles forced, according to data at Pro Football Focus.

No carry was more valuable than Pacheco’s last, as he bounced off two Denver would-be tacklers for 10 yards on the game-sealing run.

Chiefs right guard Trey Smith said Wednesday he agreed with Allen’s perception of Pacheco.

“I definitely think it’s accurate, man. He’s not scared of anything. He’s not scared of a challenge. It’s awesome just watching him go to work every day,” Smith said. “The energy and the passion he plays with, how hard he runs on the field, trying to break tackles and make things happen ... it’s really fun to watch. It makes me want to go even harder, just to protect him.”

Allen told Forbes he’d attended two Chiefs games at Arrowhead this year, including one to support former teammate Kimble Anders during his induction into the team’s hall of fame.

Pacheco said he would welcome speaking with Allen in the future.

“It would definitely be a dream come true,” Pacheco said. “So hopefully, one day I’m in those shoes, and I’m looking forward to meeting him.”
