Marc Maron Joins Owen Wilson Golf Comedy Series at Apple TV+

The series was originally announced in March with Wilson in the lead role. Peter Dager is also set to star in the show.

More from Variety

Wilson stars as Pryce Cahill, described as “an over-the-hill, ex-pro golfer whose career was derailed prematurely 20 years ago. After he gets fired from his job at an Indiana sporting goods store and his wife walks out on him, Pryce hedges his bets entirely on a troubled 17-year-old golf phenom (Dager).”

Maron will star as Mitts, Pryce’s best friend and former caddy. Apple has given the show a 10-episode order.

Maron’s past TV starring roles include the critically-acclaimed series “GLOW” at Netflix and his self-titled series “Maron,” which ran for four seasons on IFC. He has also starred in films such as “To Leslie,” “The Bad Guys,” and “Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates.” Maron is also a highly celebrated stand up comedian, with his most recent special — “Marc Maron: From Bleak to Dark” — debuting on HBO in 2023. He is the host of the hit podcast “WTF with Marc Maron.”

He is repped by Avalon, Independent Artists Group, 42West, and Brecheen Feldman Breimer Silver & Thompson.

Jason Keller created the series and serve as executive producer. Wilson will executive produce in addition to starring. Ben Silverman of Propagate Content also executive produces along with Howard T. Owens, Rodney Ferrell, Entertainment 360’s Guymon Casady, Piece of Work’s Lee Eisenberg and Natalie Sandy, Chris Moynihan, and Bill Callahan. Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris will direct.
