Nearly 30,000 Tarrant County residents cast their ballots on the first day of early voting in the midterm election on Oct. 24.

During the 2018 midterm election, 41,947 people in Tarrant County cast an early vote on the first day they could. Turnout in that election was record-breaking, according to census.gov. Midterm elections generally draw a smaller turnout than presidential election years.

Monday’s turnout, however, was more than double the 13,466 in the 2014 midterm election.

On the first day of early voting in the 2020 presidential election, 42,343 Tarrant County residents voted. In 2016, 43,140 voters turned out. That is on par with election numbers from a decade ago. The first day of early voting in Nov. 2012 drew 30,133 voters.
