A viral TikTok video of a lavish mansion on the real estate market in Richmond, Kentucky, for $6.5 million is gaining a lot of attention thanks to a secret bunker hidden within its walls. But the real story is the murder that took place in the home in early 2022.

The footage, which was taken by @cjcrothersconrad, has gained over 600,000 likes and been shared over 20,000 times. The video starts with the creator walking through the home and into a closet where they open the creaky safe door leading downstairs to the massive hallway with numerous safe doors leading to the actual bunker.

People in the comment section were quick to point out certain things about the meticulous area.

Something is telling me this isn’t a bunker...” one person said.

“first off I’m not walking down nobody stair to nobody hallway to no body bunker. I’m out,” another commented.

“Those doors close from the outside. That’s not a bunker it’s a really nice dungeon,” someone noted.

“First rule of a safe house is not letting anyone know about it. And definitely not putting it on your airbnb listing,” one person said.

“The drains in the floor had me a little freaked out,” someone observed.

“It’s 6:43 am and I’m scared,” another commented.

Some of the commenters noted that the nine-bedroom, 10-bathroom home was the site of the shooting of Jordan Morgan — after 23-year-old Shannon Gilday broke into the house on Feb. 22 and allegedly killed the 32-year-old. Morgan was the daughter of former lawmaker C. Wesley Morgan, the Lexington Herald-Leader reported.

Gilday’s mother, Katie Gilday, shared in a social media post that her son believed that “nuclear war is imminent” and that he was not of sound mind at the time of the shooting.

According to lead investigator Cameron Allen, Shannon Gilday wanted access to the bunker itself.

“He wanted the security of the bunker,” Allen said in court, according to the Herald-Leader. “He stated that his beliefs at the time, given the current political environment in our country as well in the world at this time, and the events that had taken place throughout the world, that he wanted to access this bunker and secure it for himself and his family and friends.”

A grand jury indicted Gilday in April on one count of capital murder, three counts of attempted murder, one count of first-degree assault, one count of first-degree burglary and one count of first-degree criminal mischief, the Herald-Leader reported.

According to the listing, the bunker is referred to as a “fallout shelter” and has “21,000 gallon underground propane tanks, an 8,000 gallon pressurized water tank, water well with reverse (osmosis), three generators, Geothermal heat and air, foam insulated walls with waterproofing, and Decra roof.”

“The Shelter is 26’ underground with 39” solid concrete ceiling and 15” walls with wings. This is reported to be the most secure home on the market in this country. It is built to withstand a Seismic 12 earthquake, has three air filtrations from Switzerland, and 2 escape tunnels, one is approximately 100 yards long.”

Richmond is about 25 miles southeast of Lexington.
