Manhattan College president rips alum Rudy Giuliani over DC rally-turned-riot

Guess who’s not invited to reunion weekend this year?

The president of Manhattan College blasted Class of 1965 graduate Rudy Giuliani over the former mayor’s repeated attempts to overturn the certified results of President-elect Joe Biden’s victory over incumbent Donald Trump — with Wednesday’s violent GOP rally as the final straw.

“Sadly, one of the loudest voices fueling the anger, hatred, and violence that spilled out (Wednesday) is a graduate of our College, Rudolph Giuliani,” wrote Manhattan College President Brennan O’Donnell.

“His conduct as a leader of the campaign to de-legitimize the election and disenfranchise millions of voters has been and continues to be a repudiation of the deepest values of his alma mater.”

While a student at the Catholic college, Giuliani was an active registered Democrat, and the ex-politician and former U.S. attorney retained close ties with his alma mater until the schism created by his role as Trump’s attorney in failed legal attempts to overturn election results.

Giuliani, speaking before President Trump at a gathering of supporters Wednesday, doubled-down on his bogus claim that the November election where Biden triumphed easily was rigged.

“If we are wrong we will be made fools of, but if we’re right a lot of them will go to jail,” said Giuliani. “So let’s have trial by combat.”

O’Donnell denounced the pro-Trump assembly that disintegrated into a violent mob invading the citadel of American democracy.

“I write to condemn in the strongest possible terms the actions of the mob that breached the Capitol yesterday,” he wrote. “The spectacle of our fellow citizens perpetrating violence intended to strike fear into the hearts of members of Congress conducting a process central to our democracy was as ugly and shameful as it was illegal.”

Manhattan College was founded in 1853 by the Brothers of the Christian Schools.
