Mandy Moore Offers Rare Comment on Ex Andy Roddick Decades After US Open Win
Mandy Moore is proof that not all exes have to be enemies.
The This Is Us alum commented on a post shared by Roddick's wife, Brooklyn Decker, congratulating the tennis star on the 20th anniversary of his U.S. Open win, writing, "I loved this article. Congrats on the 20th Anniversary of the Open!"
"You're a class act," Decker wrote back. "You were a huge part of his life (and actually there) during that time."
In a separate statement, the singer commented on the former couple's history in a now-deleted Aug. 28 Instagram Story.
"Andy was a really formative part of my young adult life," Moore began alongside a repost of the GQ article Decker shared, per E!. "Although we're not in touch, I was so moved by this article reflecting on the 20th anniversary of his US Open win and the kind of life he's [led] since. I'm so happy for him and his family. Congrats on this milestone, Andy!"
Moore, 39, and Roddrick, 40, only briefly dated from 2003 until 2004, during which Roddrick won the 2003 U.S. Open and Moore starred in multiple movies, including How to Deal alongside Allison Janney and Chasing Liberty with Mark Harmon.
Though the two eventually broke up and moved on to date and marry other people–Moore married Ryan Addams in 2009 before divorcing in 2016 and marrying Taylor Goldsmith in 2018, with whom she welcomed two sons, while Roddrick said "I do" to Decker almost a decade earlier in 2009–they seem pretty amicable, as Decker even poked fun at her husband's former love life in a conversation she had only a few years ago.
"I still harbor anger towards Mandy, because she got his good years!" the model quipped in a 2020 interview with Access Hollywood. "She got the hair, she got the U.S. Open Championship, she got the good stuff!"
