3 shot inside hotel near Tulane University in New Orleans: cops

Three men were shot and wounded in a shootout inside a Louisiana hotel early Monday morning, authorities said.

Two of the gunshot victims were arrested after investigators learned they were part of a group of about six men who opened fire inside the Jung Hotel, about 3 miles from Tulane University, the New Orleans Police Department said in a news release.

The group broke into a hotel room shortly after midnight and shot multiple rounds toward two people inside, striking one of them, according to the release.

“The suspects then fled the scene while reportedly continuing to discharge their firearms in the hallway,” police said.

The victim who was shot inside the room was taken to a hospital, but his condition was not clear Monday afternoon. The second victim was not injured.

During the investigation, police learned that two of the accused shooters had arrived at a hospital with their own gunshot wounds. They were identified as Criss Ross, 20, and Tiquan Everson, 25, and charged with attempted second-degree murder.

Cops also confiscated three rifles and illegal narcotics during the investigation.

The gunfire prompted the Tulane University Police Department to send out an alert to the community overnight, local news station WVUE reported.

“This is an ongoing criminal investigation and affiliates should avoid the immediate area,” the alert said.

The agency said it was assisting the New Orleans Police Department with the investigation.
