A man has suffered a leg injury in a shooting in a Lincolnshire village in the early hours of Saturday.

Armed police were called at 01:15 BST to reports of an injured man on Thorpe Bank in Little Steeping.

Lincolnshire Police said a shotgun had been fired at the victim, leaving pellets embedded in his leg, but his injuries were not thought to be serious.

The force said it was looking for three men in connection with the incident and that a cordon remained in place on the street.

Supt Phil Vickers said: “It's a quite exceptional incident and from our point of view, I think it's right that the local community would be concerned so police have put in place a significant response.

“We've got a number of armed and unarmed officers and a team of detectives who are working to identify exactly what's happened.”
