Man found guilty of murdering Rockford rapper 'Pair A Dice' in 2019

A Rockford man has been found guilty of first-degree murder nearly five years after the fatal shooting of a local rapper.

Eric Brown, 32, was found guilty of first-degree murder, armed robbery and armed habitual criminal by a jury.

Brown shot and killed Robert Wash, 40, on Oct. 15, 2019, at an apartment complex in in the 4800 block of Harrison Avenue.

Police said Wash was at the complex after an armed robbery at the complex. When Wash and other residents tried to leave, Brown shot Wash, according to authorities.

Wash was taken to the hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Wash, who went by the stage name, Pair A Dice, was a local rapper known for his positive lyrics.

Brown faces up to more than 100 years in prison on the charges. A sentencing date has not been scheduled, but Brown is due in court again for a status hearing at the end of January.
