Man dies after stabbing at sports bar near Spring Lake early Wednesday

A man died early Wednesday after being stabbed just after midnight at a Cumberland County sports bar, the Sheriff's Office said in a news release.

According to the release, the stabbing at Pyrates Sports Bar on West Manchester Road, near Spring Lake off Bragg Boulevard, was reported at 12:11 a.m. The victim, whose name was not released, was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center where he later died, the release said.

The Sheriff's Office said the "offender" was identified and is cooperating with the investigation. The circumstances surrounding the homicide are under investigation, according to the release.
