Man dies in early morning shooting at south Corpus Christi Bay home
A 24-year-old man is dead after being shot early Thursday morning at a Corpus Christi Bay area residence on the city's southside.
Corpus Christi Police Department senior officer Antonio Contreras said police responded to a call reporting a shooting about 3:05 a.m. in the 700 block of Lansdown Drive. They arrived to find the victim with a gunshot wound to his torso. The man was taken to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries.
Preliminary information reveals that there was a disturbance at the residence that escalated into a shooting, the officer said.
Ashlyn Orr, 30, was arrested and booked in the Nueces County Jail and will be charged with murder.
Eyewitness statements were unavailable. It is unknown whether drugs were involved, Contreras said.
He added that if someone feels endangered, call 911. If they feel they are part of a situation that is escalating, they should separate themselves safely, if possible, and call the police at (361) 886-2600. Resources are also available through the City of Corpus Christi for victims of domestic violence, stalking, sexual harassment or sexual assault.
This is an active investigation, if you have any information, please contact detectives at (361) 886-2840 or report anonymous tips to 888-TIPS.
