Man City vs Inter Milan LIVE: Champions League final result and reaction after City seal historic treble

Rodri fired the winning goal as Manchester City finally claimed Champions League glory and completed the treble with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Inter Milan.

The midfielder rifled home in the 68th minute as the Premier League winners City wore down the Italians in a draining final at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul.

The contest was a tight one, with City suffering a serious blow in pursuit of the prize that has eluded them for so long when they lost Kevin De Bruyne to injury in the first half. The prolific Erling Haaland was also kept quiet by a stubborn Inter side but Rodri eventually made the breakthrough with a firm strike after a Bernardo Silva pass was deflected into his path.

It capped a momentous season for City having also won the FA Cup as well as a fifth Premier League title in six years. Their success means they also join rivals Manchester United as the only side to have won all three of those trophies in the same season. It meant mission accomplished for owner Sheikh Mansour, who was present in Istanbul at only his second match since purchasing the club in 2008 and subsequently propelling them to the game’s top table. Manager Pep Guardiola could also celebrate Champions League success again 12 years after the second of his two wins as Barcelona boss.

‘A dangerous mess’: Uefa under more pressure from fans after Champions League final chaos

15:29 , Jack Rathborn

Uefa are facing more pressure about their ability to stage major events, as another Champions League final descended into “dangerous” chaos, and supporters complained that the situation again put their safety at risk.

Among a series of serious issues faced at Istanbul’s highly-criticised Ataturk Stadium for Manchester City’s victory over Internazionale were:

  • Supporters forced to travel on shuttles for up to three hours without water or toilets

  • A total lack of guidance and minimal travel options post-game, which left elderly fans and those in wheelchairs forced to traverse a mile of slip road in order to hail down gridlocked taxis, which charged up to €200

  • Only two concession stands for an entire end of fans, creating waits for simple cartons of water for up to two hours

  • Fewer than 20 toilets serving 20,000 people in the fan zones

  • Fans having to abandon transport and climb over scrubland and “building site” surroundings to even make kick-offRead more below about the chaotic situation, including first-hand information from Man City and Inter Milan fans:

Kevin De Bruyne could miss start of new season after hamstring injury

12:18 , Jamie Braidwood

Kevin De Bruyne could miss the start of next season after suffering a suspected grade three hamstring tear in Manchester City’s Champions League final win over Internazionale.

The midfielder, who will have a scan this week and who will miss Belgium’s Euro 2024 qualifiers against Austria and Estonia, admitted he had been at risk of suffering the injury at any point in the last two months.

De Bruyne had scored against Arsenal and Real Madrid as he helped City to their treble before he was hurt in the first half at the Ataturk Stadium.

Romelu Lukaku has another harrowing moment to ponder after Inter fall short

12:01 , Richard Jolly

When Edin Dzeko’s number was up and Romelu Lukaku took the field, the stage was set for the perfect conclusion to Chelsea’s car crash of a season. If Lukaku, the man a team who developed a chronic aversion to scoring, delivered the winning goal in the Champions League, it would be irrefutable proof of Todd Boehly’s anti-Midas touch.

Yet there were colliding forces at play and Manchester City duly benefitted. Lukaku’s previous European final for Inter brought an own goal in defeat to Sevilla in the 2020 Europa League. His 2022-23 may forever be defined by his traumatic second half against Croatia, by the four glaring misses that brought Belgium’s golden generation to an end and eliminated his side from the World Cup. But there was a largely luckless sequel. Inadvertently, he blocked Federico Dimarco’s second header after the wing-back struck the bar. When presented with a glorious opportunity, five yards out, he headed against Ederson’s left knee. A player with 351 career goals risks being defined by the ones he didn’t score.

But, in fairness to Lukaku, if one man won City their maiden Champions League, it was not him, but Ederson. The Brazilian’s passing can feel more notable than his shot-stopping and he rarely features near the top of the charts for save percentage but he produced three superb stops: first Lautaro Martinez was denied then Lukaku and finally, deep into injury-time, Robin Gosens. There were echoes of a compatriot, Alisson, and the 2019 final: scarcely required in the first three-quarters of the game, he was outstanding at the end. “You have to be lucky. Ederson or they miss it, they could draw,” Pep Guardiola reflected. “This competition is a coin.”

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand believes Pep Guardiola did not need to lead his side to an historic treble to put himself in contention for “the greatest” football manager of all time.

Rodri’s 68th-minute strike in Saturday’s 1-0 Champions League final victory over Inter Milan was enough to secure the Spanish manager a 12th major trophy with City and anoint him as the first manager to secure two European trebles, having also accomplished the feat with Barcelona in 2009.

Pep Guardiola believes Manchester City have earned a place among the greats after finally winning the Champions League.

City completed the treble on a glorious night in Istanbul on Saturday as they beat Inter Milan 1-0 in a hard-fought final with a 68th-minute Rodri strike.

City have dominated the domestic scene under Guardiola, winning five Premier League titles in six years as well as two FA Cups and four Carabao Cups, but European success had eluded them.

“Tonight, the Manchester rain will taste like champagne,” he told BT Sport, predicting this was far from the end of the club’s silverware collection.

Pep Guardiola delivers expletive-ridden reaction to Man City’s Champions League win

Pep Guardiola insisted it was “written in the stars” during an expletive-ridden reaction to Manchester City securing the Champions League and treble.

Rodri’s goal was enough to clinch a 1-0 win in Istanbul over Inter Milan, which also represented the Spanish manager’s second European treble of his career, 14 years after his first with Barcelona.

And Guardiola could not hide his relief at edging out the Italians in the final, lauding his team’s “patience” after a tough start.

“Tired, calm, satisfied,” Guardiola told BT Sport. “This f***ing trophy, it’s so difficult to win it.

“It’s impossible. It could have gone differently, we knew it, they are really good. Antonio Conte will learn a lot what they do. It’s quite similar, They bring you up, they find strikers, link well to feet, then after they run to the other side. The first half we were anxious.”

Kyle Walker reveals six-word message to Man City teammates ahead of Champions League win

01:02 , Luke Baker

Kyle Walker has revealed the six-word message he delivered to his Manchester City teammates ahead of their Champions League final victory over Inter Milan.

City completed a historic treble but were made to work hard by Inter as it took a second-half goal from Rodri to finally put them ahead at the Ataturk Stadium in Istanbul, before goalkeeper Ederson made a couple of wonder saves and the Italians hit the crossbar in pursuit of an equaliser.

Pep Guardiola’s side eventually did get over the line however and a first Champions League trophy in the club’s history completed the holy grail, to add to their Champions League and FA Cup triumphs this term.

Walker has been a key cog in the winning machine, most notably making a brilliant recovery tackle on Vinicius Jr at a key stage of City’s revenge win over Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-finals.

However, he was dropped for the final itself – although he was substituted on late in the game to help see it over the line – but, as a member of Guardiola’s leadership group, still delivered a message in the dressing room before the final. And he has revealed the six crucial words he said to inspire his teammates.

Pep Guardiola ended 12 years of hurt thanks to masterful midfield reinvention

Sunday 11 June 2023 00:01 , Luke Baker

“Relax,” yelled the least relaxed man in the Ataturk Stadium. Pep Guardiola has never been a byword for calm; not with his extraordinary array of melodramatic touchline gestures, some of them seemingly incomprehensible, writes Richard Jolly from Ataturk Stadium.

But then this has been a 12-year psychodrama, a study in how not to win a third Champions League under the auspices of a tortured genius.

There are times when it has seemed to take Guardiola to the bounds of sanity, his infamous overthinking producing some extraordinary decisions and some strange setbacks. It did take him to the edge of Europe.

But, a few miles from Asia, Guardiola’s journey ended. A 1-0 win over Inter Milan has taken him back to the top.

After 2009 and 2011 came 2023: his third European Cup, his first without Lionel Messi, his first with Manchester City.

Pep Guardiola delivers message to Uefa and Fifa after Champions League win

Saturday 10 June 2023 23:15 , Luke Baker

Man City boss Pep Guardiola has delivered a message to Fifa and Uefa about the length of the season in the aftermath of Man City’s Champions League win.

Guardiola told BT Sport: “[I’m] tired. Calm. Satisfied. It’s so difficult to win it.

“They are really good. Be patient, I said at half-time. You have to be lucky. Ederson or they miss it, they could draw. This competition is a coin. It was written in the stars. It belongs to us.

“We weren’t at our best level. After the World Cup the team made a step forward and we were there. It wasn’t our best performance.

“I don’t have any energy to think about next season, it’s impossible. We need a break, it’s too long. Our players have international games now. Uefa and Fifa, think about it. The Premier League finished two or three weeks ago, now people have to come back. It’s too much. We will start from zero next season.

“We’re going to celebrate in the hotel with family and friends. Monday the parade is in Manchester. With this competition, the treble is so difficult.”

Kyle Walker discusses what he said in the changing room

Kyle Walker had to deal with being dropped for the final, as Pep Guardiola only had him on the bench. But as a member of the leadership group, he still delivered a message to his teammates.

Walker said to BT Sport: “I’m over the moon. I’m rarely speechless. My dream has come true, to achieve this with this club. To achieve a Treble is unbelievable.

“I’m always going to be disappointed when I’m not playing but I’m 33. My example sets to the younger lads. I made a speech before they went out. This club means so much to me. To experience what I’ve experienced, I’m forever in debt.

“I said ‘my dream is in your hands’. No pressure. You can’t say Inter deserved it more than we did or we deserved it more than they did. We’re both here by merit. There has to be a loser.

“Emotions played a part. The occasion is obviously going to get to you. I got a silver one last time so to get a gold one is fantastic.

“I’m living the dream. My mum and dad are in the stands. From where I come from in Sheffield it’s not easy. I remember when my mum didn’t have a pound for the ice cream van. To have this with them, I’m so thankful.”

Talk about mixed emotions for Kevin de Bruyne. He finally achieved his goal of winning the Champions League but for the second time in the European final, he was forced off injured early on.

De Bruyne told BT Sport: "It's been a hard two months for me, with my hamstring, it snapped, it's a shame, I felt good in the first half an hour, the team was good enough and we won.

"It's amazing, we've been working so long for this, for the club and everything we did as a team, we've not lost in the Champions League this year. It wasn't the best game, but it's time to celebrate."

John Stones was pivotal to Man City’s victory this season and he’s been a key cog over the past few months as he becomes more of a midfielder under Guardiola.

He spoke about the emotions of the victory to BT Sport.

Stones said: "It was the thing we were missing, it's a pleasure to be part of this team. Only the second time to do it, the treble, I'm so pleased.

“I'm holding words back because I'm on camera, put it that way. We set the bar high now. After this season, from where we were in the Premier League, to bring it back, win the FA Cup, and then here, on a difficult night, I can't put it into words.

"I played more as a No 8 today, I loved it, I'm still learning, I'm not the best in there, but I gave it my everything, got on the ball and tried to make things happen.

REPORT: Man City secure landmark Champions League victory that stretches beyond historic treble

Saturday 10 June 2023 22:14 , Luke Baker

It didn’t quite happen in the way expected, but Manchester City of course made it inevitable. The English champions have finally become the European champions to complete a treble and also bring a long-term Abu Dhabi project to its culmination. At least of this stage of it. After a 1-0 win over Internazionale that will offer a release as much as relief, it’s hard not to think they could go on and win it again and again, confirming Pep Guardiola as the greatest coach of all time.

The Catalan already has a strong claim to that, after at last winning his third Champions League, a full 12 years after his second.

There was no overthinking this time, even if a defiant and proud Internazionale did make City worry for long periods of the game.

That also ensured City had to fight, in a way they haven’t been used to over three months when they have looked the closest team to football perfection the game has ever seen. This wasn’t that. The manner of victory was instead fitting in its own way as a passing midfielder in Rodri scored the goal that City will now replay and rejoice in as much as Sergio Aguero’s in 2012.

Great goalkeeping by Ederson, who rises above four men to cleanly claim the ball that’s pumped into the box. Old-school, top-quality goalkeeping.

A little push from Haaland and it’s an Inter free-kick out on the right. Dimarco puts it in, headed clear to Barella on the edge of the box - he swipes a foot at it but it flies wide.

Ederson then given a yellow card for time-wasting at the goal-kick.

SAVE! Was that the moment for Inter?! An unreal stop by Ederson

Bellanova whips the ball in from the right, Gosens heads it down to Lukaku who is five yards out and he has to score! But his header is somehow saved by the legs of Ederson, not sure how much he knew about it but his knee keeps it out! The ball then cannons off Dias for a corner.

Nearly works as Haaland and Foden try to combine in the box but a swarm of dark blue closes down the space. Bernardo Silva does well to win a free-kick after dribbling out wide to the right.

Onana rises to claim the cross safely. Stones goes down with a ripped shirt, although there wasn’t much in it as he clashed with Gosens. Kyle Walker finally comes on, for Stones as it happens. He’ll try to help them see this out for the final 8 minutes.

A HUGE MOMENT! CITY ARE AHEAD!

For the first time, gaps start to appear in the Inter defence. Akanji slips a gorgeous ball through to Bernardo whose cutback from the byline deflects off a defender but falls for Rodri 14 yards out and he hammers it into the corner. Great technique and a massive moment.

The corner comes to nothing as the referee gives a free-kick against City for Stones pulling down Bastoni. Six of one, half a dozen of the other, as they say - both men were all over each other.

63’ - Man City 0-0 Inter

Saturday 10 June 2023 21:24 , Luke Baker

A promising counter for City, maybe a bit more pace is the way to go? Rodri has Stones on the overlap on the right, feeds him and his cross is blocked out for a corner. Haaland was lurking at the back post there!

62’ - Man City 0-0 Inter

Saturday 10 June 2023 21:22 , Luke Baker

Akanji looks a bit nervy suddenly after that near disaster and his jitters almost see him give the ball away again. City are getting a bit tense here and that’s all because Inter are frustrating them.

OVER! City then quickly break after that near disaster and Barella brings down Foden about 30 yards from goal. The first yellow card of the evening handed out.

A dangerous position for the free-kick and a short ball is then whipped into the box but Dias’s header is well over.

CHANCE! Almost a complete disaster for City!

No communication between Ederson and Akanji as they leave a ball into the channel for each other and Martinez nips in. He’s unmarked in the box but Ederson comes out well and smothers the shot. A let-off. Could Martinez have squared for Lukaku? Possibly, although City players were streaming back

57’ - Man City 0-0 Inter

Saturday 10 June 2023 21:17 , Luke Baker

The longer this game goes, the happier Inter will be with 0-0 and the nervier City will get.

Edin Dzeko goes down, looks like he might be cramping. Either way, he’s being taken off now and Romelu Lukaku enters the fray. A good sub to bring on and adds a different element to Inter’s attack. We expected to see Lukaku around this point.

He immediately wins a header and Inter have an overlap but Akanji does superbly to cover the space and cut out the attempted cross past him.

55’ - Man City 0-0 Inter

Saturday 10 June 2023 21:15 , Luke Baker

Great work from Stones on the edge of the Inter box and he then finds Gundogan but the space is closed down and the chance goes by the wayside.

Çalhanoglu then dives in front of Foden and convinces the ref he’s been brought down, so wins the free-kick and Inter can relieve the pressure

53’ - Man City 0-0 Inter

Saturday 10 June 2023 21:13 , Luke Baker

Gundogan playing like a terrier now. He goes in hard on Martinez but gets enough of the ball that it’s no foul. Darmian then wipes out Grealish on the left but Foden’s free-kick sails harmlessly through.

51’ - Man City 0-0 Inter

Saturday 10 June 2023 21:12 , Luke Baker

Similar pattern in the early going of this second half - City with the ball, Inter pressing high and with intensity. Should City start playing the long ball into Haaland as a traditional No 9 (as they did against Arsenal) to switch up the attacking impetus? The beauty of the Norwegian is he’s more than capable of fulfilling that role.

Great tackle by Gundogan to dispossess Darmian but he gets knocked to the ground by Çalhanoglu for his troubles. He looks a bit winded but gets up and seems to be fine.

48’ - Man City 0-0 Inter

Saturday 10 June 2023 21:08 , Luke Baker

Dimarco is down holding his back (and his face, but that’s par for the course in terms of dramatics). There was a minor collision with Bernardo that he’s made a lot of. He’s back up on his feet and hasn’t lost a limb or anything, so he’s all good to continue

46’ - Man City 0-0 Inter

Saturday 10 June 2023 21:07 , Luke Baker

No changes at half-time for either side. Romelu Lukaku feels like Inter’s trump card off the bench. When will they deploy him?

City obviously have the likes of Julian Alvarez and Riyad Mahrez to call upon whenever they deem it necessary.

KICK-OFF! Man City 0-0 Inter

Saturday 10 June 2023 21:05 , Luke Baker

The teams are back out - Inter return to the field first and City follow after a few final words from Pep Guardiola. Can they find the moment of magic to break Inter down?

Should be a fascinating 45 minutes - we’re back underway in Istanbul.

Our Senior Football Correspondent Richard Jolly, is also at the Ataturk Stadium. He too has focused on the De Bruyne injury and how City’s other midfielders have struggled.

Rich says: “An underwhelming first half for Manchester City, though Inter can be reasonably satisfied.

“Apart from the anguish for Kevin de Bruyne of his early exit from a second Champions League final, there is also the practical problem that he, unlike most of his teammates, was playing well. Rodri, in particular, has been sluggish, while Ilkay Gundogan has been quiet.

“The general mood has been subdued. All in all, a less dramatic first half than the last one at this ground involving a team from Milan.”

Our Chief Football Writer, Miguel Delaney, is out in Istanbul for this final and has assessed the first half.

Miguel says: “A first half that was probably as good for Inter as they could have possibly hoped. It goes without saying they have made a game of this, when so many predicted a procession.

“They have also played their part in ensuring this isn't the Manchester City that was unstoppable for the last three months, although it does feel like some of that comes from within Pep Guardiola's side too. They haven't necessarily been that bad but they haven't been themselves and so many touches and passes have been off, either through casualness or maybe a slight nervousness.

“Kevin De Bruyne seemed to be the only player immune to this, playing well, only for such a great player to suffer the sad misfortune of again having to go off injured in a Champions League final. If this game does come down to nerve and psychology, as has been the case so far, that can naturally have more influence - before you even get to De Bruyne's brilliance.

“Maybe the most telling moment was Guardiola agitatedly telling his players to 'relax'. He does need to say something different at half-time, which was a requirement no one would have expected before the game.”

Cesc Fabregas assesses the first half

Saturday 10 June 2023 20:59 , Luke Baker

Cesc Fabregas has given his thoughts on the first half for BT Sport and he’s been impressed (but unsurprised) by the underdogs.

Fabregas said: “It's a difficult one, I watched Inter a lot, I know they're not easy to break down. This is a team that knows how to play with and without the ball. When they do, they know how to exploit the spaces.”

Man City 0-0 Inter

Horrible deja vu for Kevin de Bruyne in that first half. Really unfortunate as he has to go off injured again

HALF-TIME! Man City 0-0 Inter

Saturday 10 June 2023 20:49 , Luke Baker

Akanji decides to try his luck from 25 yards. Catches it well enough but it’s always rising and flies comfortably over.

And that’s the half-time whistle. Man City have had 61 per cent possession but Inter have been very disciplined in the press and have restricted their genuine chances. The big news is Kevin de Bruyne going off injured - just as he did in the 2021 Champions League final against Chelsea.

Onana slips as he clears the ball and is a bit slow to get up but seems to be fine. Two minutes of added time at the end of this first half.

43’ - Man City 0-0 Inter

Grealish wins a free-kick in a dangerous position on the left as Dumfries drags him to the ground. Clear foul.

Dias and Akanji come forward, Foden whips the cross in but it’s too long and Rodri’s attempeted ball back in cannons off Martinez, rebounds on to him and rolls out for a goal-kick.

42’ - Man City 0-0 Inter

Here was the moment Kevin de Bruyne was forced off injured. Gutting for the Belgian

41’ - Man City 0-0 Inter

Saturday 10 June 2023 20:43 , Luke Baker

Acerbi makes an absolute meal of a minor coming together with Phil Foden. The Englishman unimpressed.

Into the final knockings of this first half and clear-cut chances have been few and far between.

38’ - Man City 0-0 Inter

Saturday 10 June 2023 20:40 , Luke Baker

Inter have a first sustained spell of possession in the City half - they strong a few passes together but City maintain their defensive discipline to avoid any issues.

Then back at the other end, a quick city press causes Onana to shank the ball out of play

35’ - Man City 0-0 Inter - De Bruyne taken off injured

Saturday 10 June 2023 20:37 , Luke Baker

Oh no. De Bruyne signals to the bench and he’s going to have to come off. He looks distraught - a second Champions League final where he’s had to go off early.

32’ - Man City 0-0 Inter

Saturday 10 June 2023 20:34 , Luke Baker

De Bruyne not moving as freely as you’d hope but he’s trying to run it off. City will do everything they can not to sub him off. Foden still ready to come on if needed, fully stripped and ready to go.

29’ - Man City 0-0 Inter

Saturday 10 June 2023 20:32 , Luke Baker

City stepping it up now. De Bruyne shoots from outside the box but it’s straight at Onana. Shortly after, Grealish cuts in from the left but his shot is too weak to properly trouble the Inter goalkeeper.

But this is bad news, De Bruyne down on his haunches and looks uncomfortable. Not sure what’s wrong with him but it would be a huge blow if he had to go off early in another Champions League final. He’ll play on for now, although Foden ready to come on if necessary

27’ - Man City 0-0 Inter

Saturday 10 June 2023 20:30 , Luke Baker

SAVE! The biggest chance of the match for either side and it comes from City! Nice play by Rodri, then De Bruyne slips the ball the charging Haaland who is going away from goal on the left but swings his left boot at it.

Onana stays big and makes the save from close range! But it shows what City can do.

26’ - Man City 0-0 Inter

Saturday 10 June 2023 20:28 , Luke Baker

CHANCE! I tell you what, Ederson looks a bit nervy so far... He plays an errant pass out beyond Stones straight to Barella and he’s well out of his goal.

Barella is about 35 yards out, towards the right of the pitch so although it’s an ‘open goal’ it’s far from easy. His shots is skewed a long way wide but it was on.

25’ - Man City 0-0 Inter

A couple of early puzzles to solve for Pep. But will Inter be able to keep up this level of intensity and pressing for 90 minutes? It feels doubtful. We’ll see.

Nice link-up between Haaland and De Bruyne but the Belgian slips as he tries to take the ball into the box

CHANCE! Dimarco is involved again as he nicks the ball away and surges down the left. He finds Brozovic in-field and the Inter captain takes aim at goal but fires a long way over the top. Another warning shot for the favourites though

19’ - Man City 0-0 Inter

Saturday 10 June 2023 20:20 , Luke Baker

City try to string together a sustained spell of possession and then play that patented long ball up to Haaland. He wins it and sets Grealish into space on the left but Acerbi defends really well and muscles him off the ball.

Inter defend another attack and counter but it peters out.

15’ - Man City 0-0 Inter

Saturday 10 June 2023 20:17 , Luke Baker

Inter win a corner but the short-corner routine comes to nothing. Dias then defends really well to nick the ball off Martinez on the edge of the box.

This has been a really promising start for the Italian side Simone Inzaghi will be delighted.

13’ - Man City 0-0 Inter

Saturday 10 June 2023 20:16 , Luke Baker

Cesc Fabregas explains City’s set-up so far very neatly. It’s the tactics they’ve been using recently, with John Stones as a hybrid centre-back/No 8

12’ - Man City 0-0 Inter

Saturday 10 June 2023 20:14 , Luke Baker

Ederson panics a bit under the press and skews the ball out of play for an attacking throw-in. Dumfries hurls it long into the box but it’s reasonably well dealt with.

Stones then wins a goal-kick, although Calhanoglu wants a foul. Nothing doing.

10’ - Man City 0-0 Inter

Saturday 10 June 2023 20:12 , Luke Baker

A great atmosphere inside the Ataturk Stadium, which is a sell-out. There were some travel woes for fans in the build-up but most supporters seem to have made it. And thank God, nothing like the scenes we saw at last year’s final in Paris between Liverpool and Real Madrid.

Inter have their best move of the match so far as Dimarco gets space on the left and whips in a lovely cross but Dias rises well to head away. Promising for the Italians though.

8’ - Man City 0-0 Inter

Saturday 10 June 2023 20:10 , Luke Baker

Dumfries playing very high for Inter and pressuring Ake. That will be a fun Dutch-onDutch battle to keep an eye on. City dominating possession as you’d expect.

6’ - Man City 0-0 Inter

Saturday 10 June 2023 20:08 , Luke Baker

CLOSE! That could so easily have been the opening goal! Great work by Bernardo on the right as he cuts into the box and Dimarco keeps backing off. He lets the City man reach the edge of the six-yard box and he curls for goal but it’s inches wide!

Onana was unmoved and unable to do anything about it. That was not good defending from Dimarco

5’ - Man City 0-0 Inter

Saturday 10 June 2023 20:06 , Luke Baker

A swinging arm from Gundogan catches Barella in the back of the head but nothing in it - purely accidental.

Inter are pressing quite high in the early going. A bit surprising really, the consensus was that they’d be a little bit more defence in their set-up. City probably won’t mind this

3’ - Man City 0-0 Inter

Saturday 10 June 2023 20:05 , Luke Baker

First chance for City as De Bruyne plays a nice reverse through-ball to Haaland who gets half a yard of space on the left of the box but lashes his shot over the top

Offside flag was up anyway. Could KdB have played that ball a shade earlier?

2’ - Man City 0-0 Inter

Saturday 10 June 2023 20:03 , Luke Baker

Decent start by Inter but a stumble from Dzeko sees the ball run harmlessly out for a goal-kick. City calmly build from the back with early touches for the Walker-less back line.

Inter press Ederson but largely leave the defence to it
