The Coral Gables Police Department arrested a 31-year-old man on Wednesday who is accused of attacking a woman in her apartment last month.

The suspect, Evert Andres Esquivel Pichardo, is the contract worker for the parking company of an apartment building on U.S. 1, according to the police report. He allegedly used his employee key card to enter the victim’s apartment building at about 7 p.m. on May 19. Once inside the building, he then entered the woman’s unit through an unlocked front door, the report says.

The suspect then pushed the victim to the ground, exposed his genitals and began masturbating, according to the police report. Once the victim stood up, he fled the scene.

Police located surveillance footage from the apartment building that showed a man who matched the description provided by the victim, wearing a dark-colored hat, a black surgical mask and gray shoes that resembled Crocs, exiting the building and running through the parking garage. He then drove away in a black Hyundai Kona, police said.

According to the police report, the suspect used his employee key access card to leave the garage at the exact time the surveillance footage shows the vehicle fleeing the scene.

Police arrested Esquivel Pichardo without incident at his home on Wednesday, and charged him with one count of burglary with battery and one count of indecent exposure, according to a press release.
