Man arrested, accused of stabbing ex-girlfriend’s boyfriend with scissors in TWU dorm

A man is accused of stabbing another man with scissors in a Texas Wesleyan University dorm room during a fight Tuesday night, police said.

Officers responded to a dorm in the 1200 block of Wesleyan Drive around 9:30 p.m., officials said. The victim told them that he and his girlfriend were in her dorm room when her ex-boyfriend arrived.

The two men got into a verbal argument, and the suspect grabbed a pair of scissors and stabbed the victim several times, the victim told police. The suspect was also injured when the victim’s friends overheard the fight and intervened.

The victim was treated at the scene for non-life-threatening injuries, police said. The suspect was arrested and taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect’s name has not been released.

A woman, 19-year-old Brionna Young, was also arrested in connection with the incident, police said. Young faces a charge of aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury-family violence. Police have not said how she is connected to the case.

“Texas Wesleyan University appreciates the prompt response of its Campus Security and the Fort Worth Police Department to ensure the safety and security of its campus community,” university officials told the Star-Telegram in an emailed statement.

Texas Wesleyan officials haven’t confirmed whether the victim and the suspect in the stabbing are students.

The police department’s East Division Criminal Investigations Unit is investigating the incident.
