Man armed with sword and six daggers busted near U.S. Capitol

A man was busted carrying a sword and six daggers outside a federal office building near the U.S. Capitol, police said.

A U.S. Capitol Police officer first spotted the unidentified suspect Monday afternoon brandishing the sword while walking down Massachusetts Ave. N.W. — about a half- mile from the Capitol building, according to a police report.

Cops later found an additional six daggers on the suspect. The man was charged with possession of a dangerous weapon, said police.

It’s not clear what the suspect was doing with the weapons. Police said he was not threatening anyone.

Capitol Police have been on high alert since the Jan. 6 riot, when a mob of Trump supporters stormed the building. Five people were killed in the attack, including Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick.

On April 2, 25-year-old Indiana man Noah Green rammed his car into two officers standing guard near the Capitol. Officer William “Billy” Evans later died at the hospital from his injuries.
