Man, 38, pleads guilty to 3 Worcester bank robberies

WORCESTER — A Lowell man pleaded guilty Wednesday in federal court to robbing three Worcester banks in April 2023, according to the office of the acting U.S. attorney for Massachusetts.

Joselito Santiago-Matias, 38, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Worcester to one count of bank robbery and two counts of armed bank robbery.

According to a statement from Acting U.S. Attorney Joshua S. Levy, Santiago-Matias was charged with robbing a Santander Bank on April 3, 2023; an armed robbery of a Berkshire Bank April 12, 2023; and an armed robbery of a Santander Bank April 19, 2023.

U.S. District Court Judge Margaret R. Guzman scheduled sentencing for July 24. Santiago-Matias was indicted by a federal grand jury in September.
