Mamie Laverock is making steady progress in her recovery after her balcony fall.
The When Calls the Heart actress — who fell five stories from a balcony in May — was seen standing up and taking her first steps since the accident in a video update posted on her official Facebook page on Friday, Aug. 2.
"Thank you surgeon’s, thank you prayers, thank you Lord. Mamie has just taken her first steps," the caption read. Laverock, 20, first appeared in the clip flanked by two medical staff as she sat on a hospital bed wearing air casts on each leg while surrounded by her family.
One of the staff members told Laverock they were “here to help,” as she said nervously, “I don’t know if I can still …” She then placed her hands on a walker wheeled in front of her by the medics.

“So what you can do, you can even push off from the bed,” the same staff member told Laverock. “Yeah,” she responded. She then grabbed the walker and pulled herself up as the medics each held her arm in support.
Cheers and claps were heard from family members in response as Laverock, smiling, said, “... to standing!” She added, “It does feel really weird. It feels really weird."
After a few seconds pause, Laverock said, “It feels very wobbly.” One of the medics then asked her if she could separate her feet. “Oh my gosh, the ski boots are really hard,” the actress responded, before shuffling her feet apart.
The medic then asked her to “put all your weight on the right and a tiny bit on the left.” Looking up at the second medic, Laverock said, ‘I’m just going to hold your hand just in case.” A family member was then heard saying that her dad was watching her FaceTime.

Still standing, Laverock said, “I feel like I’m going to fall backward,” as the medic encouraged her to use the walker for help. She then looked up from the walker and asked, “Is Dad on Facetime?” Laverock then called to her dad, “Hi dad … look I’m standing with the walker. All by myself.”
She then took a step with her left leg and took a few more steps with the walker, prompting a delighted reaction from her family.
Laverock was left in critical condition after falling five stories from a balcony walkway on May 26, having previously been taken to the hospital after having suffered a "medical emergency." She sustained “life-threatening injuries,” from the fall, which took place after she had been transferred to a transferred to a Vancouver hospital, according to the GoFundMe page set up by her family at the time, which has since shut down.
