Maine power outage map: Spring snowstorm leaves over 250,000 homes, businesses without power

Updated

A slow-moving nor'easter brought snow, strong winds and power outages to Maine on Wednesday and Thursday, with more precipitation potentially on the way.

According to the National Weather Service, low pressure will linger in the Gulf of Maine through Saturday for continued chances of snow and rain showers along with breezy conditions.

The NWS says snow will continue periodically in interior areas Friday, with some light accumulations possible. Closer to the coast, these may be rain showers in the afternoon. The NWS also says road closures and downed trees could still be an issue Friday.

Shannon Moss, a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety, told the Portland Press Herald that Maine state troopers responded to 70 crashes and slide-offs on Interstate 95 between 7 p.m. Wednesday and 4 p.m. Thursday. Only five resulted in injuries, Moss told the news outlet, and none was life-threatening.

The NWS says rain and snow showers will continue into Saturday, although accumulating snow will be limited to the mountains. The weather is expected to clear up some on Sunday, with mainly clear skies and warmer temperatures arriving Monday.
