Magnum P.I.’s Perdita Weeks Spills Helicopter Secrets, Teases Final Episodes and Shares Message for Fans (VIDEO)

The final Magnum P.I. episode of 2023 also marks leading lady Perdita Weeks’ directorial debut.

In “Extracurricular Activities,” airing Wednesday at 9/8c on NBC, Juliet and Thomas (played by Weeks and Jay Hernandez) are hired by a college dean to investigate a professor who has been accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a grad student. Elsewhere, TC and Katsumoto (Stephen Hill and Tim Kang) take Cade and Dennis on a father-son camping trip… that Rick (Zachary Knighton) just might horn his way into.

In the video Q&A above, TVLine first checks in on how Weeks is feeling (many months) after filming the helicopter/sniper sequence from the most recent episode, directed by Knighton. As Knighton had previously told us, the cast had “all been hanging out and maybe drinking some wine” the night before, so…. Well, we’ll let Weeks update you on all of that. (tl;dr “This was not the day to turn up not feeling 100 percent!”)

The conversation that zeroes in on the English actress’ own directorial debut, which involved a college campus scene featuring 150 background actors… a bit of derring do by co-star Jay Hernandez and a lot of derring do by Weeks’ own stunt double… and a camping storyline that deftly balances light and heavier elements.

At the 3:30 mark, TVLine looped Weeks in on the Magnum P.I. pick for our Sexiest Scenes of 2023 list, and not only did she offer up her own “punchy” suggestion, she caught us a bit off guard by suggesting that #Miggy’s steamiest moment is yet to come!

Speaking of “yet to come,” Weeks then shares a peek at what Magnum P.I.’s final few episodes have in store — note, the last two have yet to be scheduled — including “a bump in the road,” some “very good news” and “a happy ending I hope people will be happy with.”

“It’s bittersweet, obviously,” to end the series after five seasons, she notes, “but at the same time it ended in a really great place…. I feel pleased for the characters.”

Weeks closes things out at the 5:00 mark by sharing what she will miss most about playing Juliet Higgins (yes, the Ferrari gets some love), and then offers a parting message to the fans — including those who fought for the cancelled CBS series’ first “save” by NBC, and who as of late have been lobbying for NBC to change their mind or for another outlet to ride to the island drama’s rescue.
