Los Angeles Lakers legend and former team president Magic Johnson may be on vacation, but he’s still paying attention to what his old team is doing.

On Thursday, the Lakers executed a major trade, acquiring Russell Westbrook and two future second-round picks from the Washington Wizards in exchange for Kyle Kuzma, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Montrezl Harrell and the No. 22 overall pick in tonight’s first round.

The move is a bold one, and it does give the Lakers a third established star alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis. It still remains to be seen how the team will generate spacing on offense though, as none of their “Big Three” are elite shooters.

Nevertheless, Magic is pumped for the trade, calling Westbrook the “most electric player in the NBA” currently. He provided his full thoughts on the move in a series on tweets this evening.

“Laker Nation, the blockbuster trade that’s bringing Russell Westbrook to the @Lakers is VERY exciting and will definitely make the Lakers a championship contender next season!” Johnson wrote. “With Westbrook joining LeBron and AD, the Lakers now have their version of the Big 3. All we need now is a couple of shooters and we’ll be tough to beat.”

Westbrook averaged 22.2 points, 11.7 assists and 9.9 rebounds in 65 games for Washington this season, helping the team reach the playoffs after qualifying during the play-in round.

The Lakers also made the postseason through the play-in, earning the No. 7 seed before injuries felled them and they lost their first round series to the No. 2 seed and eventual Western Conference champion Phoenix Suns.
