MacKenzie Scott, ex-wife of Jeff Bezos, captures perch as wealthiest woman in world
MacKenzie Scott, the ex-wife of Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, has become the wealthiest woman in the world, with a net worth north of $67.4 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
Bezos still has around triple the wealth of his ultra-rich ex, according to the ranking, which is updated daily.
Scott, 50, has promised to give away most of her wealth within her lifetime. She was the world’s 12th-richest person on Wednesday, according to Bloomberg.
Her pockets were more than a billion dollars fatter than those of L’Oreal heiress Francoise Bettencourt Meyers, the second-wealthiest woman, according to the index.
Bezos, 56, married Scott in 1993. They divorced a year ago.
Scott has published a pair of novels. She received a 4% stake in Amazon as part of her divorce settlement with Bezos.
