They’re “perfect” for “the cool days of fall,” and they’re all on sale.
While I do love fall, I’m a summer girl at heart, especially when it comes to clothing. I love airy dresses that float in the breeze, lightweight tank tops and midi skirts, and casual T-shirts with rolled jeans. We’ve gotten just a taste of fall where I live, and I’m not quite ready to give up my cool summer wardrobe. So to extend the life of my warm-weather clothing, I’m eyeing one brand’s luxe, neutral layering pieces.
Since I refuse to put away these clothes for the season, I’m looking at Jenni Kayne’s soft, versatile cardigans that can be worn over my summer basics during this transitional time. The luxe brand has cozy sweaters in oversized and fitted styles, like the cropped Merino Finley Cardigan and Cottage Cardigan that can be slipped on for cooler days and nights in place of a jacket. Wear them open or buttoned up, and the bonus is these classic styles can be layered over virtually anything. Plus, you can use our code JKAYNE15 to save 15 percent off these and all Jenni Kayne sweaters. Here are some of my top picks.

There are times I want my cardigans to be a blanket-like layer of warmth, and times I’m searching for a more structured style. I like that the Merino Finley falls under the latter, offering a fitted, cropped look that can be worn solo with jeans, or unbuttoned over a tank top or flowy dress. It’s made with a merino wool and nylon blend, so it’s guaranteed to keep me warm while being breathable so I don’t overheat in these early fall temps.
Cottage Cardigan

And then there’s the Cottage Cardigan, which is a 180 from the Finley. It has a slouchy, oversized structure, which would work well to provide contrast on top of my more fitted dresses. The knit cardigan hits above the knee, and you can size down if you like the length but want a closer fit. One shopper who called it “cozy and chic” said that it’s also “perfectly oversized.” They noted that they’re “5 feet 4 inches and a size 0” but that the sweater “doesn’t overwhelm [their] frame.” Another reviewer confirmed that it’s “lighter weight,” sharing that they live in Southwest Florida and “wear this to keep [them] warm in the crazy air conditioning.”
Cashmere Colette Cardigan
$425
$362
Less oversized than the Cottage, the Cashmere Colette Cardigan still has a laidback, relaxed fit and hits at the top of your hips. It’s made of luxuriously cashmere, and the sleeves are slightly longer to provide full coverage. The sweater is available in nine sizes from XS to 3X, and a gray or beige color.
Cable Cardigan
$395
$336
I love the look of a cable knit sweater during the fall and winter thanks to its timeless design. Sizes are selling out quickly for this chunky style, which can be worn over a thin summer dress to offer casual warmth or with a fitted pair of pants and tank top. It’s made with 100 percent cotton for breathable warmth. Shoppers raved about the Cable Cardigan for fall, with one person calling it their “favorite transitional sweater,” noting that it’s “not too heavy and perfect for cool mornings and evenings.” Another customer said the “fit is so perfect,” adding that it’s a good option for “when the weather’s not very cold.”
Drew Cardigan
$325
$277
The Drew Cardigan is Jenni Kayne’s more breezy version of its Cocoon collection, making it an ideal choice for this time of year. I’m a fan of sweaters with pockets, and this V-neck button-down style has two in the front. It’s made of an alpaca, wool, and recycled polyester blend, which keeps it airy, and shoppers agree that it’s “great” for “the cool days of fall.” One shopper also highlighted that it’s “lighter” than Jenni Kayne’s Cashmere Cocoon Cardigan and has an “oversized but still flattering” silhouette. I can see myself wearing this style with my cropped jeans and khakis during the season.
Jenni Kayne has plenty more neutral cardigans for fall’s early days that are on my wishlist, and you can shop them for 15 percent off with code JKAYNE15 right now.
